VW Multifunction Steering Wheel with DSG - GTI R-Line - Flat Bottom 1K8419091 5K0419091 - Golf Scirocco

They have either black with red stitching or black with black stitching. Make sure you get the ones with the DSG paddles.

Works out to about $900 landed in the country for a brand new wheel and airbag.
Thanks. Did you order from there? I've heard some issues about shipping the airbags by air because the igniters are deemed to be hazardous explosives??? What was your experience?

If you use Chrome, you can get it to auto-translate. You sorta get some pidgin English translations but good enough nevertheless.

        • Finally decided to install my paddle shift steering wheel, very easy!
Luckily i didn't have to change my airbag as i had the same steering wheel but without paddles and different shape.

Only problem i'm having is getting paddles to work.

Hi Tigger73, when I press coding it comes up with screen i took a picture of, cannot go into long coding or any other options.
I think I have to do it manually?

Maybe I have to change the coding? Originally the coding was 0001132. Do I change it to 0001232 because now I have triptronic? Or which one do I change to enable paddles?
                Regards

                  Hi there

Note how it says 0xxx?xx just above the section regarding tiptronic (paddles)
So the ? is the digit to change (3rd from right)
                  Yours currently is 1 (00011132)
"1 OR 5" = No Tiptronic and no PTT
You want to change it so that you do have Tiptronic and no PTT
                  So change it to 2
                  New coding is 00011232

Good to hear you got it going. With mine it gave the option for long coding (same as AussieTig in post #2). Good to see that you got it sorted. Enjoy your flappy paddles!!!

                        • Suffolk,

does the flappy paddles work when you just leave in D? or do you have to shift to Tiptronic mode before you can use the paddles

                          • Baboo,

Good thing about paddles is that they also work in D. Press + on paddles and it's activated. Press OFF, and you will go back
                            to Auto.
Had to explain it to the wife just in case she pressed one of the paddles and didn't know what to do. Great upgrade, especially if you don't
                            Need to buy another airbag.

                            • Thanks for that! so it works the same as DSG one in my golf so it's good to know.

I already ordered the steering wheel, so it's good to know you got it working. Thanks!

Actually it will revert to D after about 20-30 seconds. Same if you're driving in S and hit the paddles to upshift it will revert in 20s and downshift back...

I use my paddles 90% of the time.
