I'm wondering if it has something to do with the stock 125 computer software. ie, the computer says, when foot flat to the floor, have to hold back on power output, whilst if foot 3/4 to the floor doesn't trip this part of the computer? I hope the above makes some sort of sense??
Makes perfect sense ... German bean counter figured these guys only bought a 125TSI. Only give ppl who buy 147TSI the last 1/4 throttle.
I'd prefer not to tweak the ECU, just to extend the component's life - because there is a good chance that it will fail outside of the warranty and I would pay for it.
Ok, i got this quote from another thread, but it's the main reason i haven't jumped on an APR upgrade. All this fun has to come at a cost, so my question is this: (and i know it is dependant on driving styles)
How much would an engine's life be shortened by such (stage 1) an upgrade? Any guesstimates?
That remark I made has nothing to do with reducing the life when you modify a car yourself. It was the case when Daimler-Chrysler reduced the power and torque in order to extend the life of the MB 5speed automatic transmission when the car was still under the warranty.

With regular servicing & oil changes, there is no reason not to expect in excess of 300,000km's on a stock car or a stage 1 upgraded version. (Turbo & engine life). - we have some really high mile 1.8T's & I have a couple of 2.0TFSI customers approaching 200k now.

shhesh Guy, keep that quiet will you, otherwise I'll have to hang on to this one for another 9 years!
I think we have the worlds fastest Tiguan (and its not even ours!) - this is our second K04 conversion & the power level is just perfect for a fast streeter.

a customer of ours took a full weight, 98 ron Tiguan to the drag strip last night & ran consistent 13.1s @ 104mph. Stock tyres.
Gathering they're not a forum member. Any plans for them to crack into the 12's? Is that going to take a little more than taking the back seats out and some race gas in?

Didn't know you had a K04 kit for the Tig. Has this been out for long?
Went on your website and have seen you do both a K04 and Stage 3 kit.... but still no DP/exhaust
I would have thought you'd need a DP before you go bolting on a bigger turbo.
Back on topic now. I'm guessing this 13.1s record is not going to last long though.... Well only as long as it takes for you to run your stage 3 Tig down the quarter mile
I think we're all hanging out to see this number but like you said you need to get the gear changes sorted first.

Not commonly done I believe ......
I'd say whatch this space for the APR Stg3 Tig's time ...... mid-low 11s, possibly high 10s coming up IMO ....

The K04 fits perfect, no issues there (this is the second one we have done in the past month). We mod the stock downpipe now & get really good flow out of it for K04's. The Stage 3 - we modify the Stage 3 APR downpipe.
I'll try to upload pictures / video of the drags. Hooks up real nice!
