  • The 0-100 was using the AutoPolar Chronometer Start 1km/h End 100km/h (which reads as 106 on my speedo). This was on a 17degree night on a very flat piece of fresh hotmix. Bugger all humidity and it was the first run. Subsequent runs (I did about 4 with breaks in-between) were 5.40-5.47 seconds.

The 0-100 was before the Carbonio and springs and my Diverter Valve had a very small leak. The springs would help a little as they help prevent the squat/lift. I think Ramee gets 5.4ish, I think he is a little heavier (sunroof) but is stage 2, I'd say most Stage 1/2 Tigs will get around 5.3-5.5sec w/DSG & Launch Control.

    • Yes reason I ask is I'm around 6.2sec with LC.

I've done a number of non-LC runs around 7.2sec ( to be nicer to the transmission ) and these are pretty repeatable.

I'm using autopolar too and have "calibrated" it against the highway speed indicators.

I'm stage 2 no intake at the moment but 125TSI DSG as base vehicle. I've run both Viezu and APR tunes in my car and had similar results.

Putting the APR on the dyno this week so will get an idea how this compares.

Hoping to get it down the 1/4 mile soon but trying to figure out why I'm not in mid 5's for 0-100 first.

      • If you're DSG and Stage 2 then there is something wrong. I got those numbers stock (155 Tig).

Yes I figured by my outputs I wasn't much more than a stock 155 and took one for a drive a couple of weeks back and there wasn't a lot of difference (other than me realising how much nicer my car is to drive with DSG tune).

I'm getting similar numbers with APR tune so going to start looking at the car.

          • Hey people, I'm the owner of the tig guy was talking about. I'm extremely happy with it. Also has a 3" stainless cat back with twin pipes and vwr coilovers wound all the way down.

Best launch of the night was a 1.96 so room for improvement there. I'll get a better dump made up after Christmas and fill it with race fuel to see what it runs. I should have my lightweight 19x10's on by then too.

That was at full weight, over 3/4 tank, socket set, half a quarter pounder next to me and was my first time down the strip.

I drove there then started running straight away so the gearbox was very warm. I noticed when I left it felt like it was clamping harder and felt more aggressive, that was after it had been sitting there for 45 minutes cooling down.

So I guarantee I'll be in the 12's next visit.

Hey Stiffy, Congrats for your achievements and welcome to the forum ! We are looking forward to see some pictures and videos of your run if you have them, and also your nice Tig too.

I am sure you will be able to break in to 12 sec next time with light weight tires and less amount of fuel. Word of caution though, I heard APR do not recommend race fuel map with K04 for an engine with stock internals. But this is what I heard, better ask from Guy_H and make sure

Haha thanks mate. I'll speak to the boys in the new year about it all, if I put a rod through the block I guess I'll just build a motor. Not really what you want with a 1600km old car. Guy has vids and photos but I haven't spoken to them since. They did send me this link though

                • Are you planning on putting flared arches on to fit some wider rubber?

Yes but major guard work is needed in the rear so I'll probably just run a 255. There is a welded seem between the panel and body of the car behind the plastic arches. I found out by it cutting a groove into my 30km old 245 tyre on my 19's to the belt. Raising it or making it stiffer would work but it's still my daily so I won't go crazy. I'll put my 19x10's on and adjust tyre size and camber from there. Then see if it'll go lower haha

Lower centre of gravity will help my launches right???

Ouch!!! So is that why you were running back on your stock rims?

I would have thought you'd fit an Anti-Lift kit to help with the nose going skywards. However I'm not one to ask about going down a track fast so I don't know if this is going to help you go faster or not. But an ALK sure does reduce the lift/dip which I found annoying more than anything.

I thought lower CoG helped with going around corners faster - or at least stops you from tipping over. I'm sure Guy will be able to point you in the right direction here as to what's going to make you faster.... well that is apart from BT.

Yeah I'm on the stock wheels for that reason. It was only drivers rear, passenger side was fine. Must have turned left a lot at speed.

I have the lower control arms installed which has an anti-lift kit in it, it's still a heavy car though so rocks around like a boat. Might do aftermarket sway bars etc but I don't want to make it too bumpy with bushings, different coilovers/springs etc. It has a good ride now and going to a lower profile tyre will just make it worse.

And yes I'm sure Guy will be happy to take more of my money haha I won't be taking it anywhere else, that's for sure.

Stock wheels belong on a 10 year old Landcruiser... not sure where VW was going with these.

Sway bars are good but they will only add more weight and make you go slower

Having said that the stock rear bar is pretty light weight whereas the stock front bar is quite a bit beefier. I changed both front and rear but the rear bar was by far the biggest difference and also the easiest one to change over by a long shot.

You're lucky that you've got such a great workshop up there. It's a better problem to have.... only issue you have is to have a big enough wallet

Haha mate the wheels are poo. Even just putting the savannahs on it make it look a thousand times better.

I was only really saying sway bars due to it feels a little "floaty" or soft around corners. But that's more than likely the huge sidewall, cheese cutter tyres that are on it.

I'm extremely lucky that the shop is so close. I'm sure they get sick of me popping in and just drooling. After they run their tig I'll just claim I'm the fastest ko4 in Aus haha.
