Does any one know the offset of Audi A5 Wheels?
I'm looking at a second hand set of 18inch wheels from an A5, details are a bit scetchy, but they are fitted with 245/45/18 tyres and have the correct stud pattern.
I wish to fit them to my MY13.5 TDi Tiguan...
The 245/45/18 size Tyre would have a about a 10mm smaller outside rolling diameter than the standard 215/65/R16 currently fitted (When new), how much do you think this would affect the speedo?
The optional 18 inch factory fit wheels have 235/50/18 tyres fitted which gives about a 7mm BIGGER rolling dia. than the standard 16's....
I'm confused....
The Audi 5s generally come with very low offset wheels - around the 30 mark - so may not always be suitable for the VW range.
You'll definitely want to confirm with the seller as suggested the exact offset and do your calculations from there.
The 16 -> 18 change in isolation should be ok diameter wise, but I'd be looking at what others are running on Tigs in 18s for the best guidance as it would be very common but not an area I'm up to speed on.

First get the seller to check the inside of the rim for the size. It will look something like this:
As a guide 18x8 ET35 will sit about right (outside of rim/tyre just inside the guards). My first Tig had this size on when I bought the car and it was a good fitment.
On an 18" wheel I'd be going with the 50 profile tyre - either 235/50R18 or 245/50R18. This will depend on what width the Audi rims are (18x8.5, 18x8 or 18x7.5) also how stretched you want to go as well as what tyres you can find at a decent price. You probably already know this but the tyres on the rims at present will not work on your car. It will look something like this (mind you these are 235/35R19 on a 19x8 rim):
Don't worry you won't get the rolling diameters to match exactly when changing rim/tyre sizes. If you can check how much out your speedo is currently and make sure whatever rim/tyre combo you put on that the indicated speed is over actual you should be OK. There's recommended tyre sizes and minimum speed ratings inside the fuel filler cap as a guide. I would stay within one tyre size of these and make sure whatever tyre you put on meets the minimum load/speed rating for that size. Talk to a decent tyre shop and they should also be able to help you out.
With 19's I had 245/45R19 tyres and these were over-size (speedo was indicating over actual speed). Next set of tyres I went with 240/45R19 and then the speedo was "correct" (indicated = actual).
You will find that some tyre sizes are more common than others and often pricing reflects this too (i.e. common Commodore/Falcon sizes are generally cheaper due to larger volumes/more competition).

The 29 offset with 18x8 wheels and 245/45 tyres will push it out about 10mm past the body work...I just discovered "willtheyfit.com"..
It calculates that they will come out 23mm further than the existing 16inch combo. So, will walk away from this "bargain!"
Out of interest it calculated about a 1.3% speedo error..
I could potentially machine them to reduce the offset, but then it starts to get way too hard...and the inside clearance on the front struts may become an issue.

Yes these rims probably have a bit too much "poke" and I suspect would sit just outside the guards.
You can get a tape measure on your current wheels to see where they would come to by measuring out the additional 23mm.
The other option is to install guard extensions... which would then turn a bargain set of wheels into something reasonably expensive.

Yeah, I dropped a string line down from the outside of the guards, front & rear, and measured between the string and the wheel. The current wheels sit only about 12-13mm inside the guards,
So this wheel would sit outside by about 10mm.
Oh well, I'll keep looking.
