Pardon my ignorance. and if it's been posted(I did read through as much as I could stand), but will the BMW X5 wheels I had on my T5 Transporter fit on a Tiguan? all four of my wheels are X5 front wheels, so narrower than the rears.

The answer is no not without adapters. The BMW and T5 have a 5x120 stud pattern and Tiguan is 5 x 112.
Best to get something that already has the correct bolt/stud pattern.
Dang. Thanks.
What other cars have donor wheels with 112BCD?
Scirocco and R36/ V6 Passat all have the same PCD and an offset that is suitable for fitment onto a Tiguan (ET40-42). Be aware that wheels for a Golf will fit, however the offset is wrong (ET50-55) and they will sit a long way inside your wheel arches.
There's quite a few Audi wheels that will fit up OK and give a nice OEM+ look.
I have some Audi 5 spoke wheels (fitted by the previous owner) that look quite nice.

yeah they look good enough for me. Any idea what model they're from?

They're an option wheel for some of the Audi A4/A5/S5
The ones on my car are 19x9 ET33 which would normally poke a bit, however I have the guard extensions to suit the wheels (or vice versa). The R-line kit would have the same fitment.
Just search for "audi hollow spoke 5" and you'll pull up a number of options for sourcing them. Though they are not a cheap wheel (especially if you buy from Audi).

Thanks so much buddy.
I'll check them out. I'll only buy used. I hate consumption, happy finding treasure in others trash.
I found some 18 x 8 with 235/40/18. Will 35 offset be okay? will they stick out too much and maybe fowl on guards?
Now for a real rookie question, when the tires wear, can I swap the first two dead ones at one end to 235/45(or 50)/18 if needed to get back to correct original tyre diameter? Then do the other end when they wear. Or will this confuse the hell out of the computer or bind up shafts or something?
I would say you would have no problem with that size. I'm running wider (& lower) with ET35 with no issues whatsoever. (19 x 8.5 with 245/40/19)
Instead of swapping 2 worn tyres out for 2 of a different size, it would be better to regularly rotate all 4 so they wear evenly, then get 4 newies that are all the same...

Cheers MGV. Will do. Got rid of a front wheel drive Transporter, so used to rotating.

I'd say that rim fitment will be perfect, though the tyre size is going to be too small and your speedo will be a long way out. Just be careful as the legal size is on the tyre placard inside your fuel filler flap. For an 18" rim it's 235/50 R18.
You can go one tyre size either way but going 2 sizes is not legal in most states. It can also cause problems for your insurance so I'd recommend factoring in changing the tyres if you buy the wheels. It's not worth the risk.
Otherwise run your stock wheels a little longer (as long as you have enough legal tread) until you can afford new rubber and then put the new rims/tyres on your car.
