Have to agree that ideally they should have the guard extensions.

Couldn't say for sure how one should interpret the law, just wondering if VW where covering themselves for the US market as Savannah's standard in the US do have the guards extensions. Might be because the US law states within the guard.
So is flush legal, hard to say
I am planning on putting guards on mine eventually, makes for a better look in my opinion, just need to add it to my wish list though as they aren't cheap.

Bear in mind the savannahs weren't an option here apparently due to failing ADR's (i believe due to poking out too much without the arch extensions.)

Volkswagen actually goes so far as to say that the 255/40 R19 96V and 9.0 J x 19 ET33 wheel and tyre combination is only allowed with sports suspension and wheel housing extensions.

I believe the rules actually state any part of the wheel/tyre can't extend past the bodywork as i know a mini owner up here (QLD) that got done for having the bottom of the wheels poke out even though the tops tucked in with camber.

It's the same here in NSW:

• The wheel and tyre must be contained within the body work or mudguards (including any flares) when the wheels are in the straight ahead position.
• The wheel and tyre must not foul any part of the body or suspension under all operating conditions.

My interpretation would be that "flush with the body work" is not the equivalent of "within the body work".

Just has a set of 2011 Audi A8 reps fitted. I wanted to try something different from everything Ive seen in forums thus far. Ill probably get bored of them & change them in 12 months time

I have the the wheel extension housings to fit up this weekend or next.

I really want to drop in a set of h&r's, however I dont want to lose ride height. What do you folks think of fitting 45 series tyres?

ahh yes, indeed they would be for the lamen.. I come to the tiguan with many moons of pain in the ass experience cleaning rims lol

Thanks HaywireTig. My wife ripped them curb hopping. All they needed was a really good sand & sand blasted. Very happy with the result, looks brand new.

I'm going to get some rim skins
in white and paint them the same color. Don't want wife to destroy them this time round.
