Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I am now wondering what it would have looked like if my Tig was black instead of blue.
The only colour would be the wheels and the slot of red in the tailights.

Oh well, now it looks like my tig got in a fight as it's black and blue.
Dusted a Mk5 GTI on my way home tonight as well.
Team_v - all sounds very similar to my Tig at the moment!

1.) I put the darker hella front lights in about a month ago
2.) Did the plasti-dipped chrome about 6 weeks ago
        3.) lowered it with H&R's
4.) debadged it (well, half of it..)
        5.) APR Stage I tune
6.) and APR Carbonio Stage I + II...

My Tig is black, and it looks mean now! I have more plans to come, but all in due course.....

I like the last picture too, really shows off the varying degrees of brightness the shadow chrome can have.
I drove throught he puddle to wash off the tyres and to get the reflection shot.
But it did give me a chance to wash the car, maybe tomorrow.

Not the VMRs unfortunately as I really wanted to go 20"s and they dont make them But i'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised

That's the plan... I've been looking at 19" wheels, and plan on powder-coating them black

                  Options:
                  VW Savannah 19x9 et33
                  Abt CR 19x8.5 et35
                  Vossen VVS 084 19x8.5
                  Vossen VVS 085
                  Vossen VVS 078
                  VMR V701 19x8.5

What's the best way to post pictures of my car in the forum?

                  Cheers

20's would look sick, very sleak, but i didn't klike the cost of the tyres and i was struggling to find anything nice looking that was reasonably priced.
The 19's give me a 45 profile which is comfortable to drive on for me and is only slightly more feely than the stock 65 profile (i.e. you can feel road bumps a little more)

The Savannah's look great but show the brakes as they leave quite large gaps between the wheel spokes.
The CR's look awesome but i fear have the same issue.

I don't like the vossen range, it just looks a bit plain imho.

VMR's look great, the V709 or V70 is my prefference but they complement the car well.

                    • VW Driver Training day today!
Going to take the dodgy point-and-shoot to get some shots.

See you there Sharkie and hopefully Jimbo.

                      • Just got back from the VW Advanced Driver Training course.
Hung out with Sharkie + Mrs Sharkie and James (from APR) and fanged some new VW's around.

Took the Mk6 GTI around the race track, it goes quite well but slips a bit and fealt a bit spongy compared to the APR'd Tiguan.
One of the GTI's had engine oil issues.

Had the Polo diesel on the wet motorkhana track, handled quite well and stoppped in time even after giving it a bootful.
Still lags and is noisy though.

Had the Tiguan 147 for the slalom, handled better than i expected.
Not a fan of the leather.
The 147 engine feels a bit dull mated to the slushbox auto compared to a manual APR'd Tiguan.

Sat behind the driver for the Mk6 R hotlap.
My driver didn't push it as far as the other driver did.
Still went quite quick and handled quite well but is it worth the extra 20k over what my Tiguan cost? I don't think so.

I am considering changing the rear lights back to stock to regain steering wheel control over the stereo.
At the moment it throws a bulb out code (due to the foglight not being in the passenger tailight) and allows volume control but no other selections.

Managed to get it down to 6.2L/100km on the way to the driver training day.

                            • Oh I forgot to say that the colour combinations you've gone for are very good. In the sense they are mainly dark colours; the headlights and the wheels. The rear lights would be more suited for a much lighter colours; but that's my opinion. The wheels do look really good, maybe you should get an .:R badge on there somewhere.

Team V sent you a pm re the training day, but see your posts here have covered what it was like, sounds like it was worthwhile, shame i was sick.

Great to see another TSI getting good fuel economy! 6.2 is great, assuming that is your av for the journey? @ what distance and general cruise speed?
