...So much of a safety upgrade from my 20yo corolla.
I know what you mean, my 17yo hilux, in retrospect, was quite dangerous in the wet & would most likely be considered not roadworthy. Even though the tyres were ok, the brakes were useless on the rear (drums), & with NO weight over the rear wheels...

Yeah the corolla had drums, and even with the driver training I had gone through it was still a bit of a handfull in the wet.
The main selling point of the Tig for me was the 5 star safety rating.
Even when put through it's paces in the wet it handles beautifully.
I finally got the Zenec unit working.
Canbus update and software update allowed it to work with the maps.
Maps are really good, more detailed than the RNS maps and more accurate for locations i entered and it even has street names spoken.
Full MFD display works well and even shows distance to the nearest 10m.
Bluetooth paired well with my phone using the inbult microphone.
Also managed to scrape the front right hand side of the car against the garage post :'(
Bit of cut and polish and it came up well, just one small dent and a small paint chip.
Going to try the dry ice dent removal next week.
Assuming the nanolex sealant provided some protection, not sure if this is true or not though.
I reset the trip average fuel consumption for the drive hom this morning.
Drove from from the northside near chemside to the Southside near Carindale playing the fuel economy game except when i was toying with the R34 (non-GTR) that was going the same way.
Managed a low of 6l/100km and a total average of 7.1l/100km.
Pretty decent for Stage 2 to return fuel economy figures that low, however stop start traffic does tend to push it back up into the high 8's or low 9's.
Was going to wash it and apply the nanolex again but it rained all weekend.
It gets washed with a car shampoo every 4 weeks or so.
Nanolex gets applied every 3 months.
I assume it is doing it's job becasue most of the daily grime comes off with just a hose.
The wheeks do collect the brake dust but it wipes off pretty easily since i sealed them with the nanolex.
Okay, time for some reviews due to the very wet weather experience we've been having.
Firstly, the Tig.
Handles itself extremely well, elevated ride height helped me out this morning ont he way home.
The first street i drove on had water up to the bottom door line of the Mk5 GTI down the road.
The brakes stop extremely well in the wet, even when pressing hard (i can only imagine what uprated pads and brakefluid would do for you)
The 4Mo system provbided traction when i was pushing the car hard around the corners.
The extra safety that this car gives and feels is amazing.
Driving through puddles the steerign wheel didn't wrench out of my hand, no slipping around in the wet, no headlights in my face, extra visibility, everything works extremely well to keep you safe.
Secondly, the Tyres.
The Kumho Ku31's in 245/45R19 were exceptional.
No loss of traction unless i really forced it to in the wet (and i mean really forcing it!)
No skidding when braking hard.
No noticable additional noise due to the amount of water on the road.
Finally, Everything else.
Nanolex is still working well.
Windows beaded the water and it ran off, only needed the windscreen wipers in the heavy rain.
Windscreen wipers worked flawlessly, clearing the windscreen properly.
Uprated headlights were great, providing light that shot through the heavy downpours and showed where the puddles were.
Took me a while to figure out where the windscreen demister was, i forgot it was part of the fan direction scroll wheel.
To sum it all up, the tig performs beautifully in the wet, stage 2 is still capable of getting the power down thanks to Kumho's and the 4Mo system and the additional ride height and safety are a big win in my books.
P.S. Carbon steel grey on the mk6 GTI is a b!tch to see in the heavy rain.

Clay
all good news, can't wait to get mine and bring on the wet season...
cheers
Tigga!
It may just be the upgrade from a 20Yo FWD car with no safety features but it sure feels great to have the tig in the weather are having up here.
I can only assume the bad reviews i have heard for the kumho's were a bad batch because mine are performing perfectly.

How many km's have you done on the Kumho tyres? And how they wear out?
After 43,000km's on Hankook tyres (RA23, the same as on our Tig), I booked in my T5 for a new tyres on Thursday, and Bob Jane could get me only Kumho, they don't have Hankook anywhere in OZ.
I've found the Kumhos to be excellent, done about 17000 on them now and probably about 50% worn, not fantastic mileage but I drive pretty hard
I am expecting around 35K out of my set.
Not bad for the cost, but for performance and cheap pricing point, i expected a bit shorter life than a harder compound tyre.
Didn't really know which thread to ask this question in and didn't think it was worthy of starting a new thread...anyway.......
Does anyone know if Tiggy has a rev limiter?
Also, whacked on the Nanolex sealant last weekend. Very very happy with it indeed. Car repels dust like nothing I've ever seen. Rain coming this weekend so will be interesting to see how well it repels the water (and road dirt) as well.
