It's all completed in their fleet of cars, and the day is about education and fun (and doing it as safely as possible of course...).
Some of the exercises I've done on these days include:
Fuel Economy Driving Techniques - briefing as well as driving yourself
4WD Course (dependant on the availability of a track) including use of off-road technology
Driving Exercises using new technology:
OPS - Optical Parking System - basically parks the car for you using sensors - completely
ACC - Active Cruise Control - has an in-built radar and adjusts speed accordingly, including a complete stop
ESP - Electronic Stabilisation Program - manages each corner in a skid, including traction control
ABS - Anti-lock Braking System - prevents the wheels from locking in an emergency stop
I've also done a "Motorkhana" type event on each of my days - it's the "competitive" part of the day, you have to get through the course as quickly as possible - winner gets a prize of some sort.
Finally - Hot Laps are generally done at the end of the day with professional drivers in the quicker vehicles on the circuit - R50, R36, R32, Skoda Octavia RS if they happen to be there, Golf GTi Pirelli, and most likely the Golf R.
It's a great day out, no matter what the weather - learn a lot and have a lot of fun.
I actually think I have a video I shot with my phone of the ESP exercise, someone in a Tiguan - if I find it i'll post it up for all to see. How do I post a video on here anyway?
Cheers.
