Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Got the car back from Prestige and Performance.
They put it up onthe hoist and noted the resonator was twisted and the crossbrace had been spaced to "attempt" to fix it.
They said i should take it back to whoever did the muffler delete pipe and get them to fix it.

Props to Prestige and Performance for not charging anything since they didn't do any labour work.

BPS are getting the car on Tuesday to hopefully fix the exhaust and make it work how it was designed

      • Yes, it was the guys at BPS that did the muffler delete pipe that have caused the issue, however they are fixing it on Tuesday.

          No more rattling noise.
And the exhaust seems to have quietened down a little as well so it's only really loud on WOT.

Best of all they did it for nothing since it was an issue with their pipe so props to BPS for great customer service.

          • Went out to Lakeside for Happy Laps on Saturday.
My in-car footage is uploading now, here is a sample video from one of the other cars.

Driver is an Audi S3 (8P), then we have a black BMW335, Me, then a Silver Octavia vRS.

            • Great footage. I did a similar run in my Turbo Territory at Wakefield Park. It's eerie how quiet it is inside the car and how slow everything appears to be compared to how frenetic it is in reality.

That is the problem I am having with my footage, it looks quite slow from the video i took but it's becasue you are inside hte car and the perspective is all weird.

Ended up notching 170km/h on the straight even though it doesn't look that quick.

Boat loads of fun though and it held up really well.

                • I topped 175 in the 2.5t Terri, but cornering was just hopeless LOL. It was like steering a block of flats. A Lotus Elise snuck in front of me turning onto the main straight . He wasn't thinking. All I would have heard was 'lub-dup' as he out broke me!

                    • Awesome to see the little Polo at 7:07 in the 1st video comfortably keeping both the Supercharged Elise and the Stg 2 Tig at bay on the straight ..... was a battle with its stock suspension and tyres though through the corners so no point in keeping the better handling cars up ..... will fix that over time now. Improvements coming at every track day.

Well done on a good event Clay and I do miss the grip of a modded Tig .....

I was pretty sure it was your pogo out there mate.
I was surprised at just how off pace the Elise was.

You just need to have a chat to sean and anthony about their polo's to see what you cna do to upgrade yours

Traction wasn't an issue although turning traction control off made a huge difference to the car's response in hard cornering.

                        • brought a tear to my eye Clay! You've certainly got Lakeside sorted picking the better lines - especially turns 3 & 4.

Got to love the mighty Tigs, what a car!

It is a fun way to spend a morning on the weekend, you should bring hte Passat out mate
Each time i go out i learn a bit more about the course and how the car goes.

I have some further information that the Lotus was an Exige S (supercharged) which puts out 163kw and weighs 933 kg

A huge difference in what way? good or bad?

                                Good, very good.

It doesn't turn off completely but when i had it activated it detects slip and corrects but it is jerky and wrenches the steering wheel.
When i had it turned off i could have the back end slip out a little and then correct it myself with the help of AWD and some feathering of the accelerator without the steering wherel trying to rip my arms off.

It is also unpredictable with TC on as you might try to countersteer as it corrects which can cause you to overcorrect.

Having said that, i would never turn it off on the street as it only helped me when i was pushing the car at about 9/10ths.
