A v6 passat is nothing like the tiguan.

If you cannot fit a pram in the boot then you have serious organisational problems imho.

Did you at least slide the seats forward to give extra boot space?

We manage to fit everything in very easily.
Baby seat in the back has fastner located on the back of the seat and makes it easy to handle. We have a "Strider" pram and easily fits in the boot - with space to spare.

Yeah sure its not as roomy as a larger 4x4, but overall it was a small price to pay to have all the benefits that the Tig has to offer.

          Hi all Tiggy owners...

Took the wife for a browse of a few different cars ont he weekend and she almost immediately fell in love with the Tiggy (put in perspective, she was looking at a Forester but the inferior quality in comparison to VW amazed her! ) ...

But the dilemma is that we have 2 baby seats to fit (and a Phil & Ted 3wheeler which I have already read that it easily fits).

So my question to Tiggy owners.. has anyone fit 2 forward facing babyseats in the rear and if so, was there enough room to squeeze a 3rd person in the back for the occasional trip?

We have two full size booster seats (that comply with the legislation requirements for young children ages 4 and 5 years old) and I have to say that it's rather tight to sit someone in the middle, other than another small child. We have fitted 3 booster seats across the back seat but it's an incredibly tight fit to squeeze these in.

same, an adult can sit in the back b/w two child car seats, but it is tight. Fine for short trips and of course you could do it for longer, but you wouldn't be overly comfortable. So depends on your needs, how regular this will be and how much you liked the tig. Strictly speaking the Tig didn't meet our original 'needs', but we fell in love with it and have never looked back. We've found relatively easy solutions to space when we've needed it. However if we'd needed to regularly carry the two kids and an adult in the back (we do occassionally) that would have been more of an issue.

I have done at least 2 1000km trips with 2 carseats and 1 adult in the back, the grandchildren were 2.2yrs/4.6yrs.then 3.2/ 5.6 , used a booter on 2nd trip. no prams, but enough clothes for 5days including for winter weddings regulsrly swapped seats ( 2hrs) and drivers. I didn't sit in the back but my daughters and wife did without complaint. The excellent road behaviour of the Tiguan really helped.. That said when my own family of 4 children was growing up I used people movers then a series 80 cruiser . the tigs a very relaxing drive. but I'm not covinced that it would be my choice if I had 2 young children to move everyday

                  thanks for the feedback guys...

My wife has a pug 307 which is long overdue for replacement and she is super impressed with the cabin space in the 307 that all other cars feel small to her. Currently the 307 is used for the family duties and we have the rear facing baby and forward facing booster side by side which (just!) leaves room for a medium sized adult. However as Bub #2 is 8.5 mths and about to go forward facing, its going to mean a tight middle seat.

I think we may need to check out the Skoda Octavia next for rear seat width.... thanks again!

Having just done over a 1000km with 3 early teen kids back to back in the Tig, 800km in a current RAV4 and 1000km in a Nissan X-Trail, I can say the following with confidence.....

Interior cabin space of the Tiguan is equally best in class (smallish SUV) with the current RAV4. To get any more interior cabin space you will have to go a class up to the Touareg/Prado/Pajero etc size. An Octavia will be no better off than a Tig when it comes to that ....

                    HOWEVER ....

Boot space is terrible in the Tig and no more than half that of the RAV4 and the X-Trail. For a family with smallish kids, I'd never recommend a Tiguan if you are going to be driving any kind of distance with luggage in it. Same deal with prams and nappy bags etc.

This is not a subjective measure by any means, it is literally driving these 3 cars back to back and loading luggage from 1 to the other .... and then continuing a 3000km total journey.

A Tiguan as a family car is really only suited to driving in and around the city with minimal luggage ... ie. school runs ... terrible to say, but that is the real world experience .... hence the reason I'm taking delivery of a Multivan in December .....

Definitely need to downsize our pram and car seats, to make the Tig work with a baby and a toddler.

For instance, giving up the Bugaboo for two Combi prams.

Our pram takes up most of the boot space, but for travelling long distances I take out the parcel shelf, stand the base of the pram up and I can add other things in fine. Was also considering a roof pod.
Yes we could of got a bigger 4wd but the wife was coming from a Charade so did not want to drive a particularly big car in Sydney. Plus the joy of driving it rated highly above all other cars we tested.

I will be taking delivery of a Tig next week and will be fitting 2 child seats at the back on one side and the middle, with the seat behind the driver for another adult. I think if you use the compact style car seats you will be right. We are going to use the Safe & Sound Compaq, which is designed for smaller cars ( you can fit three of these in a smallish car). And we have downgraded from a Bugaboo Cameleon to the smaller Bugaboo Bee. Hopefully it will all work out

We checked out prams yesterday to see what would fit in the tiguan. We found this great pram, the Baby Jogger City Select. Its got off road wheels, can be adapted to carry to kids and folds up super compact for its type of pram, smaller than the bugaboo and mountain buggies.
Easily fits in tiguan boot without the seats pushed forward.
What do other Tiggy owners have?
