  • Oh Bloody hell.....better fuel consumption as well (in steady driving), my god have i died and gone to heaven (well yes guess I might if I get too enthusiastic with that power). .

APR does not change either so undetecable by the normal diagnostic checks ....

Obviously if they take the ECU out, send it to Germany and then check every line of code they would be able to see that its different.

Most service depts do know how to switch the APR programs and they use that to "detect" that is there .... for this reason I have the locking feature which prevents even that .... its extra $$$ though ...
Locking feature? Is this the password protection, I have seen mentioned, or something else. What is the extra cost?

Out of curiosity only - are the fuel consumption readings still accurate after the re-map?

    cheers

you use your cruise control switches to control the programs. The security coding is customizable with a four digit pin code that you activate thru the use of the cruise control switch also. It sounds a bit confusing, but in practice it's pretty easy. After your APR dealer has set it up for you, you can then go in and change your pin number. It's pretty much all explained here in the EMCS section:
      http://www.goapr.com.au/products/ecu...guan20tsi.html

Fuel consumption readout is still accurate (well, as accurate is it ever is).

      • My old GTI came to visit me yesterday and I had a quick drive .... forgot how it felt to have lots of power in light body ..... made the Tiguan feel a little sluggish ... especially in in-gear acceleration ....

While 400NM is (should be) plenty there is nothing like feeling 380NM in a body weighing 500kg less .......

SO ..... I need more power ...... not much more ... just another 30-40kw/50NM should do it ... ... S3 kit group buy anyone ?

          • I hear ya. I want a solid 300HP (whatever that is in kW) which means I have 50 more to make up somehow. Intake, DP, and stage II should get to about 280HP. It seems the S3/K04 is the only way to get to 300 but damn it's expensive. I still need to get 19s and rubber first!

wonder what sort of price we could negotiate? And the $8500 is just the kit. Then I'd need installation, exhaust, intercooler and intake. That's pushing the cost up pretty high for just a few more ponies.

You would have done the exhaust and intake in any case ....

The way I see it .... Intake $500, S3 intercooler ?$1000?, Custom Downpipe $1000, K04 from the USA $1500, APR S3 software $700, installation $600 = all possible for about $6500 ...... do it in bits and the cost can be spread over many months ..... 250kw/450NM end result of it all ....

                • Sharkie - Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, but do you have a 0-100 time on your APR Stage 1 upgrade?

I have not tested mine yet, however USA tests have returned a 6.5 0-100km/h and 14.7qrtr for the auto TSIs with APR Stg1 software .... thats is more than a second off the stock times ...

I'd expect the manual to be at least 0.5s quicker across both of those ....

                        • Nice addition sharkie.

Does it make a noticable difference other than the intake sound?

                          • had a chat with Guy at APR stage 1, and he was very helpful

of course some clarity I had is now being baffled by the logical self 'why do I really need this on a family car with all our road rules' internal argument, otherwsie all keen on replacing my 125 tsi with a 190tsi

so in the interests of helping tip the balance are just wondering does anyone know:
if there is a VW enthusiasts club or the like in northern nsw or southern queensland with access to a track or tracks that provide fair access ?

I dont particularly want to do track work, just thinking of safe places to let the beast run free every so often

                            • I have to stop reading this thread or I will end up putting a serious dent on my banks account, can't have two project cars. Nice intake, post some current pics of the car as whole showing off all the mods together if you can, can't remember seeing any pics of the wheels and dropped stance.

The Tig in 125 mode is quite punchy, HOWEVER, having done a few kms this past week, in 190+mode it is a different car. IMO it is how it should have come from the factory. It is smooth but powerful without being racy or overpowering.

Racetracks at Lakeside and Queensland Raceway near Brisbane and Morgan Park in Warrick all do drive days.... info posted on the forum when events are on. I've been to Morgan Park and Lakeside and the Tig will make at least 1 appearance so I can discover the limits under controlled conditions.

AND boys ... this Carbonio intake is awesome, nice slighty deeper sound under hard accelleration again without being too loud with the diverter valve/waste gate now audible and throttle response is sharpened a bit as well. Good upgrade that.
