  • Congratulations, good call.

And yes, getting upset over resale reality just ruins the fun.. I would know given the amount I've tipped down the drain over the years.

Mazda CX5 is the only one with a regular auto, but I couldn't like the styling as much as I tried. Was going to wait for the new Rav4 but decided not to. Initially thought the 132 tsi would be sufficient but the front looked dreadful, then the update model arrived......by the time you ticked the options, you might as well get the 162. Which is what I did, with the works! Then next day decided that the sunroof wasn't a good idea with added weight, potential issues and can't completely block out the sun. Swapped to a Wolfsburg for a less attractive deal, but l think I've made the right choice, lol
Resale value is always bad if you are trading in. So no need to pamper your car too much as you will still get peanuts at the end of the day.
Yup good call on getting a Wolfy!
I agree the non R-line Tiggy exterior is very bland. Wished VW would do a facelift for the base model.
If the perforated sunblind for the panoroof is an issue then can always tint the panoroof glass. I’ve done this before in the Audi Q5 with the same issue.

      • Haha, let’s not talk about how much we have tipped into cars shall we?

Did consider tinting the glass roof, but then spending more money again... I’ve had sunroofs in the last three cars, never opened them. At least those had hard cover shades.

Does it really matter? Who purchases a regular vehicle as an investment?

          • Does anyone else feel guilty when you go between dealers to get the best price?? They sure do make you feel guilty to shop around!

Just signed for a new MY19 Wolf, no sunroof. Looking forward to it!

Congrats! Shopping around is normal practise [emoji847].

There should be plenty of Wolfies without sunroof so delivery should be quick?

                • They salty now

I didn’t even go into the dealership, I just rang up with the price I wanted so at most it was like 10-15 mins all up of their work day and I still get all the salt when I said I didn’t want to proceed since I got a better offer at another dealership. So it’s not like I wasted a lot of their time!

Bet now they’ll be following up for days

                  • Yeah if finance goes through fine, we should receive it late next week.

Was pretty happy to get it for $56,500 with front tint, rear UV tint and boot liner. Cheers to this forum for giving me the confidence to go strong on the price.

                    • Not at all, especially when dealer A thinks you're telling porkies about pricing and rings back later - nothing more satisfying than letting them know you're already driving your new ride from dealer B.

In my case, I went for a second test drive. At the end, I asked for a quote - two handwritten numbers on a blank sheet of paper (one for R, one for Wolfsburg). I then asked about the possibility of discounts and was told there were none on offer. When I mentioned that I would be checking around, the salesman refused to give me his business card because I would probably end up buying from elsewhere. I was pretty disappointed given this is the same dealership that sold me my last two cars (both Skodas) and my son works there as a technician.

I have told both the Skoda salesman (I also test drove a Kodiaq on the same day) and VW Australia that I won't be setting foot in that dealership ever again. No response. My view is that if they treat us as a commodity, then we treat their products the same way ie. one VW is the same as any other so it doesn't matter where we buy it from.

It's a pity, as I had a good relationship with my old Skoda sales manager.

                        • I agree, the cars they are selling are commodity items and are all identical. Hence it doesn’t matter which dealer you purchase it from you get the same product. The only differentiator is the customer service and the price. If bad customer service then you rather buy somewhere else who has better customer service and willing to negotiate.....

                          • Brisbane, 162 Highline my19 in Atlantic Blue (doing tinting, mats etc after delivery), with Sound and Vision pack for $51.5k with a good trade in on the Wife’s car. Could have been a bit more to shave off but was close.

                            • Just bought a black Wolfy with sunroof $57365 drive away. I thought the ball was more in their court than mine when making the deal today. Even though it's the last day of the month its also the last day for the 2.99% finance over 4 years.

Anyway I had asked for 10% off and they countered offered, I said Ill go home and think about it, but then the manager got involved and said they can do it although it will be at a loss. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, perhaps I should have went in there with 15% but 10% off is what I was willing to pay so Im happy with that.

To my surprise, the Wolfsburg doesn't come with Dynamic Light assist LED headlights but the Allspace's do. I didn't realise this until today when I took for a test drive. Discovered whilst looking for the settings.

Not sure how I will feel about this, my previous car (that I just traded in) had it and was the most amazing feature of the vehicle. Always brought a smile when I saw it work.

Anyway, now to research toe bars, window tint, and paint protection.

Nice work. Sometimes walking into a dealership on the last day of the month can really pay off if they're desperate to hit sales targets for the month/year. Especially the sales managers are competing with each other for top dealership awards which gets them free overseas trips etc so they can be especially keen to land these sales.

I think you have to be reasonable. I'm pretty sure this is the best price I've seen on a Wolfy with sunroof. Dealer was clearly looking for numbers on this day so I think you got lucky

Maybe check the specs to see if this has changed from standard Highline/R-line and Wolfsburg. I thought the Highline/R-line all had it but to be honest haven't looked into it. Maybe it's a change for MY19??

Now the fun begins. I wouldn't go near the dealer tint/paint protection unless they are giving it to you at trade price in the deal. There's some decent paint protection/tint guys about the place that will do a much better job for the same/better price. Dealer tint/paint protection usually has massive mark-ups.
