I did not get any beep from on coming cars so I guess it's working well.
Just tested my car out tonight driving in the hills. Looks like I have simple high beam assist, did not notice any specific masking when following another car. Takes about 2 seconds for the system to activate the high beam compared to if you did it manually. The system is very sensitive to oncoming headlights so immediately deactivates the high beams before I had a chance to reach for the headlight stalk and deactivate the high beam.

Overall reasonably impressive. Only shortfalls from my short test tonight were the tight hill corners with undulations, when you're going into a dip it doesn't use high beams (as I would manually) to illuminate more of the road as it is about to go up again.

Wish my car would also have the active shuttering to mask specific elements but to be honest I didn't expect the MY17-18 cars to have the capability at all.
Cheers for a few of you guys sorting it out, got me to give it another try and finally got it working.

Anyhow, I've finally worked it out and I'm happy to report that I have successfully coded and tested it. It works beautifully and it is pretty obvious when you see it in action. I got so excited I turn my car around to test it again.

Here is what I did. Follow below link, page1 and half of page2
Activate Dynamic Light Assist (DLA) - from MY 2017 - AS.Coding

After the first 4B coding (top half of page 2), you should get an error (lights pointing to the ground). Do as the document says to perform basic setting and the error will go away and the light will readjust and go back to normal. Now clear the error on 4B.

We are nearly there but not quite. Now check the car Menu, lights and make sure Dynamic light assist is tick and push the light stalk forward. You should see the light with an A inside on the AID (exactly the same as light assist) but you should get another error at the same time. If you don't then you may be set to rock n roll.

So if you do get the error like me, refer to the bottom half of page 2. My advice is don't do all the 4 codings in one go, do one at a time. After each one, perform basic settings and clear error. You may not need them all. For my car, I only needed to do the second line and the error goes away and it works.

I hope this is helpful and good luck.
Do you need or does this work in combination with the steps to activate high beam assist?

Also for those not sure what Psych101 is referring to: Mk2 Tiguan VCDS Tweaks - Page 68
Sensitivity of throttle increased and reduced delay between accelerator pedal input and engine response

I actually coded via a carista app but checked in obdeleven and carista just changes the same setting.

    Highly recommended.

A bit annoyed after jumping in the car this morning to do a little coding.

It seems that my Tiggy isn't supported by the HEX+CAN cable.

So now to choose between another Ross-Tech product or an OBD11.

Excellent work and thanks heaps for this!! Just boggles my mind why VW have this turned off in Australia when the cars here have all the hardware.

Thanks for your response. I followed the guide and configured all but got an error. Then I did the extra 4B settings and my High Beam just stayed on and wouldn't turn off. I couldn't shut it off unless I turn the power off.

I reverted all my settings and now I have this "Error: Adaptive Front Lighting (AFS)" error that I can't get rid of.

Can you send my your 4B long coding of your car so I can compare? Also to make sure I did the right thing performing Basic setting, what are the steps for performing basic setting?

Just basic settings for 4B. One of the fault codes should be that you need to run basic settings after you make the other changes.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know what basic settings actually does. There is no confirmation that it completes.

I didn’t undo the changes for high beam assist but in hindsight it may have caused some of errors that I saw. Best of luck. For me it was perseverance that got all my faults cleared in the end rather than specific advice I can pass on.
