I have ordered/received my New Tiguan

So a bit of an update on what has happened. I left a message on the VW Facebook page and they got back to me with a phone call this morning. Still no response from the sales manager by the way. Gave them the VIN and they confirmed that the vehicle was in the county and sitting at Patricks. The woman on the other side of the phone told me that she would be contacting another department to see what can be done as this department deals with this type of issue. She told me she could not contact Patricks directly but there are other channels they can go through internally before contacting the dealership.

Fingers crossed they can do something - I've been waiting since July last year

If the car is damaged in transit, who repairs it?

It sounds like a case of plausible deniability. Car is damaged in transit. Patrick's fix it using the cheapest possible alternative. In the meantime the dealership abrogates any responsibility saying it's out of their hands until Patrick's release the vehicle all the while knowing exactly what's happened but refusing to tell you.

Some months later, you take delivery.

Some years later, the shoddy repair shows itself as the clear coat starts to flake off.

Dealership has never heard of you, VW Australia has no record of a previous repair, car is out of warranty.

End game.

I'd be making a call to the Department of Fair Trading. See what they say. They might even already be aware of this little scam and can put some weight on the dealer/Patrick's to come clean.

I think if its damaged in transit it gets delivered as is. The dealer would make the repair and then initiate a claims process with the shipping company, who would do their own investigation, and if it was damaged at the port, would then make a claim with the stevedore. I used to work for a shipping company and we had a claims department for issues like this.

Ok so here is the update.

VW Australia rang me about 5 minutes ago they have spoken to Patricks and the car has been booked in for completion this Monday and should arrive at the dealership this Thursday, if all goes well at the dealership then I will pick up The following Monday afternoon.

Mine hasn't arrived at the dealership yet. I've been in contact with them today sorting out a few things, so far though they are just saying that they are expecting it any day now. I don't think I'll be picking it up next week at the rate it's going - more like the week after.

Hope it's sooner mate!! Also curious to know what the dealer was on about if it actually is already in the country! Strange

I think VW Australia saw my initial contract date and bumped it forward. They told me that they have now booked it in for transportation which is always a good sign.

The dealer told me they need 2-3 days to turn the car around.

I reckon that you and I will pick our cars up at the same time

Hello all. Ordered my silver petrol R line with DAP today. The dates I got was Sept delivery. So after reading all the comments here I'm more expecting a Dec/Jan delivery. The car is for my wife so the wait is not bothering me too much.
