    *sigh*

Please can anyone confirm or add to the following:-

    FRONT
Mount is hard plastic measuring 525 x 115 (as per Brizzypom Pg53)
To remove is 5 plastic nuts
Need 4 colour coded Bumperplugs to fill
So what next to mount slimline plates? Do you need to drill holes in the bumper to mount a slimline bracket / cover?!?
And if so can anyone recommend cheaper ones than the pricey Lakin ones mentioned elsewhere?

    REAR
Just a piece of black foam that can be cut down to size as required to keep the protective padding
Presumably then you can just mount whatever mount you then use with the existing holes?

    Thanks in advance.
Please treat this as 2nd hand as I do plan to remove the mount and install slimline plates but don't have my car yet. The info below was supplied from one of the members who's done the mod.

Essentially there are 4 holes that need the plugs fitted. The hole size is slightly larger than the plugs so you'll need to add some bulk to the plugs in the form of electrical or plumbers tape, apparently they fit rather snugly once this is done and won't move.

2 new holes will need to be drilled for the slimline plate to be screwed in, they also used double sided tape.

As far as I know nothing special needs to be done for the rear slimline plates, they just fit.

    • New here but just joined to let you know I've got a fully loaded Indium grey R-line coming on the Asian Parade. It's currently flying down the east coast of Africa on it's way to South Africa before heading to Perth, and slowly around to Sydney.
It seems like forever ago we ordered it but it's finally on it's way to us!

Enjoy the tracking! Certainly makes it feel more real and helps the time go by.

        • Ladies/Gents, my car arrived in Port Kembla last week on the Tortugas. Dealer states that it's still 2-3 weeks away for delivery.

Is this right? First brand new purchase and not sure whether this is correct or not.

          Thanks

            Thanks
            My dealer quoted me:
-10 business days from being unloaded from the vessel to being delivered to the dealership.
-4 days for the dealer to prepare the vehicle for delivery/pickup.

In reality it took 11 business days until they received it, but only 2.5 days for them to prepare it. It was going to be delivered to my house on a Monday, but I asked them if I could just pick it up from the dealership on the Friday afternoon, which was fine.

In all, it was 3 weeks from the time the ship arrived until I picked it up, so 2-3 weeks from now is still accurate enough, although I'd be pushing for 2. Just keep checking in with them and make sure they understand how long you've been waiting, that way they may prioritise yours over others that they receive in the same shipment. Also make sure that they have everything they need from you in regards to registration so that there are no delays there.

You must be pretty damn excited!

Thanks for the tip Gladbach and yes very excited!

I ordered mine back in October 16, so it's been a long time coming.

                          • Has anyone seen this?

I enquired about the car through car sales website and got a call this morning from one of the salesman.
I asked about the price and the response was that the Dealer Principal said that the price is to be jacked up because of shortage of cars, the salesman also said that it (extra cost) would be put down (on contract) as dealer delivery cost.

                            Is this even legal?

I am about to contact VW AUS tomorrow morning and ask the question.

                            • I think you will find it is legal to ask as much as they want. Be it over the manufacturer suggested retail price or not.

It is the buyer that has the last say.

If you feel the price is outrageous then don't buy it.

You can offer a more realistic price and walk away. If no one is willing to pay more than you, then you get the car at the price you are happy with. If someone is prepared to over pay then that is their issue. You just continue shopping.

                                Fair comment,

from my point of view, they can keep the car. If some poor sucker is willing to pay more then retail then good luck to him/her.
