A crackle is good enough [emoji23] just want to know if the 162 has some special flare to it [emoji6]. Thanks for your comment [emoji1360]

we had ours for 10 days. We're still being gentle with the right foot but the exhaust note is nothing to speak of. No farts, no crackle not really much character at all. These's more visual flash (fake outlets) than aural excitement.

My car exited the production plant on the 27/1 arrived at the ports on the 1/2 and from the documentation will leave the port tomorrow (8/2) from there it is a 42 day trip across the ocean and will be in Melbourne on the 22/3. Add 2-3 weeks before you can pick it up from the dealer.

This is obviously dealer dependent as I never received any notification prior to the date to pick it up. Mind you I never chased it either as it was never going to make things move faster than what they were already.

Hahaha yeah I deal with clients at my job every now and then and I don't wanna be like some of them and give the dealers a hard time [emoji23]. I went to the email that told me my car shipped, then clicked on the link a few days ago and it no longer displayed a ship and it displayed things as if I already had the car and what to do now. From that I assumed the car was in the country and couple days later the dealer called me with a solid pick up date. Now I'm just patiently waiting to pick my new baby up [emoji51][emoji51][emoji51]

            • I have never had any communication from the time I left the dealer to the time they rang me to pick it up. I read of emails from VW etc but I got nothing at all which I found surprising from reading posts here. It is only a car though so the world was not going to end because I did not know.

              • Looks like a whole train load of Tiguans just arrived at the port ready for shipment.

                • I hope mine is there! I got my VIN on 23rd Jan (after asking for it, so presumably it may have been in the system earlier), but I still can't see it on the track and trace.

Same - also can't see on the track and trace, but I was told that mine will be shipped this week. Expected to arrive in Sydney on the 21/03.

Same, I got my VIN back on the 27th Jan and according to the NADCON dates the ship that leaves tonight (BESS) should be the one that mine is on. Hopefully both ours will be on this ship.

                        • Well----picked our white 162TSI Highline up today and so far so good. The car looked very nice gleaming in the showroom and after a very comprehensive instruction session from Jenna it was time for the bad part. Paying, though shortly followed by our 120km drive home through the Otways.
Firstly, the accelerator has a far longer travel than the GTI, therefore taking quite a deliberate prod to get things moving. Consequently, I could not bring myself to anywhere near flooring the new car. We overtook a truck at one stage and I may have got to 3/4 throttle. At this stage it does not feel nearly as feral as the GTI did on full song, maybe due to not giving it enough gas.
The car is far quieter than GTI, and noticeably quieter than our other Tiguan. I'm pleased to have the 55 profile tyres as they help in that way, as well as protecting the rims from curb damage.
Drivers seat is very good and it is going to be wonderful not having to spend 5 minutes adjusting it after wifey has spent 5 minutes making it fit her.
Because we travelled home together I was unable to be silly, but with normal driving at sensible speeds through the hills it handled very predictably and was relaxing and very easy to drive.
The 7 speed DSG is an improvement on the 6 speed, smoother and more able to chose the correct gear, though the paddles are brilliant to sort it out when it is unable to predict the oncoming road conditions, such as down hill in to a tightish bend.
After dark we went for a cruise, Bloody fantastic!! At last I have a VW with lights that actually light the way. Having always been to poor to ge bi-zenons on previous V-dubs, LED'S were in the package this time so I may venture out in the dark now. The light up like daylight!
I love being able to slide straight out without hurting too.
I miss the note of the GTI and to be truthful, I will miss the well planted screamer that it was. I wont miss the excessive road noise and lack of space for carting the ever growing grandkids.
I think the long wait was well worth it and feel very glad and privileged to be able to share my stuff with all on this site.
PS----Will give an update when I can really give it the berries!

The noise insulation in the new Tiguan is exceptional. I really noticed how quiet it was when I first drove one. It helps to position the vehicle in that little niche between the run of the mill and the luxary vehicles, because a quiet drive is often associated with quality and luxury. To put it into perspective, I noticed how noisy the X1 was to drive (and it's been a beat up a little in reviews for it) and comparing it with others in the class (Tucson, CX5, Koleos) it's miles better.

                                p.s. Thanks for you review
