I agree that it is all to do with timing. This will also affect the prices tendered to car brokers when they put out your tender to all the dealers.

As per this podcast (Hard Bargain: How to save money on your car (and also prevent nuclear apocalypse)) I used game theory to try and get the best price.

I think I was extremely fortunate timing-wise to get the deal that I received. I think from here on it would be difficult for any dealer/broker to do much of a deal when limited stock is in such high demand.

Originally I requested for cars coming soon after March as my Corporate discount would activate early March.
After seeing a few members on the forum getting cars with R-line packages for less than $4000 more than the prices I was given for a car without, I decided that it was worthwhile to wait a little longer for a car with R-line pack.
Dealers with cars available now/very soon were quoting $61-62 drive away (a $6000+ premium on my best offered price) which I was not keen on paying.

In the end I bought my father-in-laws car a year earlier and will be driving that in the meantime allowing me to wait for delivery of the Tiguan.

Agreed timing is everything and need to do research (if can be bothered). I ordered in December and got everything from full RRP to finally 10.7% off RRP. Tried to take a few mates to purchase same spec and now wait is to July/August with no chance of same pricing.

Car to be picked up 7/2 at midday!
Ordered it in September so the wait has been long. We've all been hoping that our 162 Highlines live up to our expectations. I'll let you know how it shapes up. We're trading a Mk 7 GTI and will be keeping our 2013 132 Pacific Tiguan. Previous to that, we had a Mk 5, 2.0 diesel Golf, then a Mk 6 GTD. Before that, quite a few Holdens etc. and various utes. Hope I can remember what they were like so I can see if new Tiguan can top them all.

Hi all, after reading some of these posts I'm too feeling like I may have paid too much?

162 TSI, DSG, White, R-line, DAB, sunroof and 2 years extra warranty ($2200ish) for $63,600 but I can pick it up in 10 business days.... I understand you pay a premium for available stock/<1month but is that ridiculous? TIA

That's ok, you could of got it for around $60700 but wait till June +.

Pretty sure you will enjoy it. Just don't try and use it in Eco mode.

I did the driving from the dealer and back home over the weekend. My wife was happy just to be the passenger. Fair enough. So on Sunday I say, 'let's get the car set up for you'. Reply, 'No, no it will be Ok its just a car and the dealer set the seating position. So I'm Ok'.

First phone call - 'its very sluggish'
Answer: it might be in Eco mode

In this household the charge of not following instructions is tantamount to heresy.Two further phone calls are had about the radio and locking......ultimately I say - 'you did the pre-delivery with the salesperson and it was just a car on Sunday afternoon' so there is not much I can do for you now'.

7 am the next morning we are setting up the car with a profile for my wife.

Apparently everything is good now.

my wife is not going to sit and read a 400 page owners manual. It's 'just a car' after all.

Actually I'm not going to read a 400 page manual either. Mostly there is a logic to it and while I've had the manual siting open on the front seat I don't think I've needed to read it.

Had a laugh the other day. I'd been tinkering with the Audi in the carport. To cut down on battery drain I switched the headlights from "auto" to "off" but forgot to switch them back. Wifey takes the car out to have dinner with some girlfriends, still daylight. Gets in the car and it's now dark. Switched on the ignition and no lights, of course. Apparently her, and her 3 mates, spent 10 minutes trying to figure out why but couldn't work it out. Thankfully she called me rather than roadside assist. My question of "have you tried switching them on?" was met with "There's a switch? I've never had to switch them on before." Apparently my answer of "No sweetheart, it uses the force, just like the wipers do" was me just being a smartarse.

Actually, packing is another OCD trait of mine.......

My wife's "attempts" at packing the dishwasher usually involve throwing the pots and plates at the thing from across the kitchen. Well that's what it looks like anyway. Of course when it doesn't wash because something in the wrong place has jammed the poor washing arms it's all my fault.

Have you got any clearer pics? The muffler design appears to have been update like the MB's, Audi's and BMW's. That rectangle angular shape that fits in with the rear bumper. Earlier pics just showed 2 normal pipes. I hope my RLine is like this!
