I have already asked Gordie to overlay all the IS38 Tigs hes done as he has all the files.
He said the Snail come on alot later than stock IS38 over 4000rpm, mine is making 25psi at 3000rpm.
I think overtime, the last 6 years, the OEM is38s have been incrementally improving. The latest versions hopefully have ironed out some of the earlier balancing issues. I think time will tell whether the non is38 hybrids stand the test of time. In terms of a health report I’m 16 months in and have no issues, fingers crossed that remains the case.VW Tiguan 162 TSI Highline w/ R-Line & DAP. Mods: OEM IS38 turbo, APR IS38 98 RON ECU tune, TVS Stage 2 + with custom TCU tune, APR Downpipe and resonator delete, APR turbo inlet, VWR turbo muffler delete, APR pendulum mount, APR dog bone insert, APR Open Pod Filter (MQB), RAMAIR intake tube, APR Red Ignition Coils, NGK R7437-9 Spark Plugs, DBA T3 slotted rotors front and T2 slotted rotors rear, ATE ceramic pads front and rear Vbox: 0-100 4.1s

Shame about Razor, is he upgrading his car? What’s happening with his parts, that could build another sleeper Tig...VW Tiguan 162 TSI Highline w/ R-Line & DAP. Gave it a bit of a quirt on the weekend, was getting traction control flashing at 5000rpm in 2nd gear.. Might need some new tyres, car at 34k atm.Tiguan Gen2 162TSI Etuners IS38 Stage 3 238.6 kw@4 wheels

For a daily driver mine's fine when left in D mode. The wife's comment to me after driving it post stage 3 mods was that it was "a bit nipper" in some situations.
I just warned her not to smash the accelerator in any situation. Whilst the TTE475 hybrid spools later than the IS38 it packs a punch when unleashed.
Having the DSG tuned makes a big difference even if stage 1. It holds gears longer, whereas OEM spec seems to want to race to 7th gear no matter what, and shifts with a tuned DSG are quicker and smoother in both directions.
IMO I was never happy with how the stock Tig drove. Some don't seem to mind it.

I’m going in for my 2 year service next week - with around 14 months and 15k km on the IS38. It’s been smooth sailing, after getting over the initial niggles with the O2 sensor CEL.
Thanks

Upgraded turbo is so much better. The IS20 spools way too early for the size of the car especially with stage 2. Traction was forever an issue. I personally prefer the turbo achieving full boost after 3k.
