  • Thanks very much guys, great info and really appreciated. Looking forward to taking the Burg for a spin with the new mods. I’m getting a baseline Dyno run as well, although it’s already modified the standard power output atw has very little deviation so it will be interesting to see what the 98 APR tune and airbox is actually worth atw. Once I get the DP sorted and IS38 I will hit the same dyno and see where it’s at. Then all I have to do is get a full exhaust (to my liking) and that’s as far as I’m going with this little sleeper. Such a fun car to drive, leaves all my previous Rex’s STi’s and previous mod cars for dead. In a couple of years it’s RS3 time. Man those things are weapons!

    • That’s a quick little beast mate. Thanks for the heads up on the CTS dump pipe. Will check it out.
Yeh rubber is a tricky one, the car came with Conti Cross Contacts from new, got 28k out of them but I’m going to run either P Zero’s or Goodyear F1 6’s which review well, won’t wear as quick as the Zero’s and there’s deals on them at present so will probably give them a shot, saves more coin for mods lol

Pirelli P-Zeros wear out really quickly and wear on the edges - at least they did on my SQ5. I have now moved to Kumho Crugen HP91 which are wearing better, look better IMO, have no perceivable difference in grip or noise, and are a good $150 cheaper per tyre for 255/40/21's.

Great tip Lucas, yeh I have ran P Zero’s on previous AWD cars, they do wear fast. Really good grip and progressive when they slip so a good tire but only if your wallet can fit them lol. I didn’t see the Kuhmos on the size selection for my car, there wasn’t a heap to choose from to be honest but will check them out next time for sure. It’s good to get info from drivers not tire sellers, road noise is a bloody horrible attribute. $150 cheaper is very well priced. Will be interesting to see how the Goodyear F1 - 6 rides, will post a review of them in the coming weeks, they are getting fitted tomorrow and scored them for $1350 fitted and balanced.

Please do! I’m almost up for a new set and would love to know about road noise etc!

First impressions of the Goodyear F1 is very good! As quiet as the Conti Cross Contact Sport previous. No road noise at slow or highway speed, so far the rubber is impressive in everyday driving. Yet to push them through the tight stuff but very happy so far. One launch control last night and some wheel spin on launch and a very noticeable chirp into second gear, had some mods done yesterday. Always a good feeling when you get into a quicker car......until you get used to it and want more lol.

              • Finally got my Brand New IS38 version 06K145874P installed and tuned today...

Happy with the results, left at a safe 25psi, 238.6 KW@4 wheels, had a bit more in it but decided not to push it anymore.

Only got to drive home in peak traffic so haven't really given it a proper run yet, except a small quirt down the side streets of Etuners.

                      25psi by 3000rpm...

I should have gone with new IS38 at the start instead of trying to find a low km secondhand and hoping it would not give me problems...

Interesting that the latest P version I am using is using a similar design actuator to my current IS20. I could not reuse my GFB DV+ Diverter valve as IS38 sticks out further causing the DV+ to foul against the racingline inlet pipe.

Wow, John, that’s quite a significant increase in power! It’s interesting that the hybrids aren’t squeezing out a whole lot more. Perhaps, they might have more area under the graph? Given it was done at Etuners maybe they could overlay your is38 graph vs hybrid is38 ?

Let us know how you go with the car and give a bit of a review. I’d be interested to hear your impressions of the new turbo with launch control...

                          • Hybrid turbos often have upgraded bearings, shaft and better balance. Less chance of going bang. Which makes me curious, did you balance this turbo?

                            • Razor80 managed 260kw at the wheels with the Snailturbo 480. It all depends on the hybrid being used.
As mentioned, the hybrids are built more robust.

My IS38 is the latest P version so might have slight inprovements over the previous versions.

I have already asked Gordie to overlay all the IS38 Tigs hes done as he has all the files.

He said the Snail come on alot later than stock IS38 over 4000rpm, mine is making 25psi at 3000rpm.
