Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Mate that is quite the setup. Congrats and well done!!

I had a quick peek online and noticed these can put down 460+ HP. You will be getting quite a lot of flow with the HPFP. It’s going to be interesting how much power the L450 puts down vs the TTE475. They seem to be similar specs and output, but adding the HPFP you might have the edge.

I’ll add you to the front page.

    • Just updated it as I missed the Turbosmart DV. I'll be happy to get 400bhp or 240-250kw atw. However, I've been told I should make more with this set up.

Mate, I’ve got to say that is some hot looking hardware.....especially that wheel and turbo smart DV. I’ve got a Forge DV waiting to be attached as back up just in case stock fails....

I’m going to be interested to see what happens. I suspect it’s going to be hard to pull a big number on the dyno due to DQ500.

2WD > AWD on the dyno.

Correct, I would expect to see maybe 260kw@4 wheels.

DQ500 cannt be that bad as new RS3 with stage 1 on E85 are making 320kw@4wheels easily which are translating to mid 10's 1/4.

Alpha Romeo Stelvio & Maseratti Levante. Wouldnt call them big suvs (stelvio is definitely same class).

But completely different price point. I'd put a Porsche Macan Turbo in the same class.

If VW did a Tiguan R then it would essentially be in it's own class. And I think VW would maybe have a problem with this. Or at least getting this across the line. Problem is if you're creating a brand new vehicle category then you have a hard time justifying a business case than going for an existing category and saying you're going to get 5-10% global market share.

If you create a new category it's going into uncharted territory and a much bigger risk. It's not a premium performance SUV. It's sub-premium performance which doesn't currently exist. You've got to take sales off the premium SUV's with lower outputs which I think the marketing types are going to have a hard time convincing the bean counters that it's got a case.

Which is why the T-Roc R makes a lot more sense on paper. It's not competing with the premium SUV's head on as it'll be $40k under where an RS-Q3 is priced. The only problem is getting it here!

                      • Just been notified that my TTE475 has left the factory in Germany and should be here by the end of the week.

Intercooler has been ordered as well and just a few other smaller bits to collect...

                          • Hi all.

Has anyone done just an compressor wheel upgrade on the is20 turbo?

Wondering if there is any merit in doing it?

                            • Didn't even think to update everyone until I saw a post in the Tiguan Facebook Page. I am all held up by the intercooler. Some crap between performance brand and Wagner and now I'm having to wait for Performance Brands shipment to arrive. Even though we went direct, they told Performance Brands to give me the one they had but they didn't have one or something. Anyway, it'll be the Monday after it comes. To think sorting out the turbo was my biggest concern..

                              • I think I’m going to get caught up with the same issues. Ordered from Pacific Brands last week and still waiting...

Anyway a small update as another package arrived:
