    • Hi All, Anyone got an updated link and (Skoda Vin) to download maps for 2018 Tiguan? Mib2/2.5 (not quite sure). The link Hillbilly put on a few posts back does not work anymore with that vin number, comes up with a blob error..

      Thanks.

Thanks Hillbilly, I initially did look but must have selected the wrong year, when I did it again the maps were there. Thanks for your quick response.

          • Can anyone shed any light on why the most recent map updates (Tiguan MY19) won't extract from the zip file on my Windows PC? I've done map updates 2 or 3 times before with no issues. This time it says it's going to take over a day to extract to the D:\ drive?? File I have is P353_N60S5MIBH3_ROW.7z.

I've tried on another PC as well (redownloaded the file) and same issue. From memory, the zip has to be extracted before being put onto a USB drive right?

              That sounds correct.

Are you using the appropriate zip tool?

Refer to the downloadable instructions on the VW website

Thanks, this was the issue. I was trying to use Windows built in extractor. Downloaded 7zip and it's working.

                Sorry and thanks!

                • For my Tiguan 2018 this was a refreshingly easy thing to do today. I bought a Sandisk 64Gb extreme card as i read here the final load could be over 32Gb. In Oz I went to VW Map Updates | Volkswagen Australia
Chose Tiguan from 2017, then Discover pro then ROW download to puter. I have been using 7-Zip for years so just clicked on the 7z file and it came up in 7-Zip.
Now here's a good thing about 7-Zip. Simply open a file window to the formatted SD card, and just drag the contents of the 7-Zip file i the 7-Zip screen to the SD card. No need to use 'extract to'.
Unzipping the 3 items to the SD Card resulted in 30.1Gb for this ROW 2024 version.
Went to navigation version screen on screen in car. Popped the SD in. came up with 'new software available'. Pressed ok.
I hour and it had finished.
I too am surprised that this software is available without a fee. Long may it live. I have worked with many complicated software upgrades in my life and know not to rejoice until you see that new version number appear.
So an easy process. If you are not a techy person at all, then just ply your reliable techy mate with beer. Afterwards, not before. But my guess anybody who can find their way around modern car displays and setting would have the nouse to do it.

Anyway I had an easy job downloading the up to date nav software for the tig. Ended up only taking an hour to upload into car.
I am happy in this world of money grabbing that this was free. Quite surprised actually. I went from 2018 version to 2024 version.
                    cheers

                          • I just want maps that don't go out of their way to route me through Brisbane city tunnels - even when it make no sense to do so and (often) adds time to the route..

I tell people that VW must somehow be an indirect shareholder in the tunnel company.

                              nermal: Hi.

Haha.......... yes, it could well appear that VW is promoting a fee-based road service if you have the option to use the tunnel regularly in your travels!!

Of course, such a financial link is highly unlikely to be true!

In any event, this matter is NOT a map update problem - it can be fixed very easily via the SATNAV setting in the MENU

I don't have a Discover Media user-manual for a Tiggy - but somewhere in Route Settings, you should see tick options like:
                              • Avoid toll-roads
                              • Avoid tunnels
                              • Avoid ferries and motorail trains
                              • Avoid motorways

If you tick any of these options, SATNAV will exclude the facility from the route calculation as far as possible

I assume that in your journeys, there are alternative routes to the dreaded tunnel!!

                              Don

The Briskoda ones are from Week 45 2023 and usually is one comes out in week 20 as well but havent seen one yet this year.

Your pic looks like it is a Discover MEDIA screen rather than a Pro as was in my 19 Tiguan.??????
