I'd like to introduce our beautiful new baby girl Ruby who arrived last Thursday weighing in at 1357kgs baby, mother and especially father are all doing very well.
That's great man. Even the wheels look good in that shot (which I didn't like at first). Resemble fractured patterns, similar to the cracks in the road. Maybe it's just me....
Liking the black (on red) decal along the side which flows to front louvres.
White & Red are my faves for this special edition.
Even the wheels look good in that shot (which I didn't like at first). Yeah me neither but I'm really into them now, and there'll only be 500 of them on the roads Aus wide. Had all the plans to start moding it as soon as it arrived but I'm really enjoying the stock car so far, think it will retain better value stock too.
I echo the sentiments about it looking good in red. I'm not normally a fan of red cars apart from Ferrari's but the GTI 40 looks the business in red with the contrasting black details.

Damn fine looking pair you've got there, was this before or after the Natio run? I did my first run through Natio the day I picked mine up. Drove from Penrith to the Scarborough Hotel for a little lunch on the cliff then up through Natio on the way back to Sydney, grinning from ear to ear the whole way home. Come to think of it I haven't stopped grinning since I first laid eyes on her at the dealers the day I picked her up.
Just ordered some car care goodies in preparation for the alcantara interior. Also planning to buy some fresh wipes to keep in the glove box to wipe my hands on before touching the wheel. I don't think thats too obsessive is it?!? I want it to stay mint condition!!
1 x Dr. Beasley's Microsuede / Alcantara Cleaner
1 x Mint Horse Hair Brush
Just ordered some of this and got the Protectant as well as the cleaner, I've got this annoying tiny little patch on the right hand side of the wheel, it feels like some ham fisted apprentice sat in the seat and put their dirty mits on the wheel and the fibres have stuck together, i'm hoping this will sort it out.
With 23km on the oddy from the dealership I was so giddy driving it home. Then had to leave it behind to go back to work! I just took it for a quick night spin around Sydney CBD/Southern Cross Dr.
It feels like the first time I drove my Mk6 GTI. It has me grinning and I can't wait to take it on the road again. So far I've been reasonably tame driving to loosen it up - but I gave it a decent go once it was warmed up. Comparing to my Mk6 GTI there's a few things that struck me:
Surprisingly feels more refined (not sure how they managed to make it feel like a step up!)
1st/2nd gears more 'grippy' ?? ... i.e. no problem coasting over speed humps without any friction / feels less likely to stall. I wonder if this is due to the extra kW?
The pull and warble of launching into 3rd!
Improvement to the gearstick is very noticeable to me especially the the better clearance vs the front cluster
Initially missed the red glows but quickly appreciating the clean look that the white instrument lights give it
Not to jinx myself - but no rattles at all yet??
Car looks fantastic and I'm really appreciating some of the modern tech. Overall, very happy with my decision to upgrade. Might have to run some pointless driving errands this weekend!
At the dealership. (They're giving me first year's service for free to make up for the delay.)
Obligatory knob picture. Look at those sexy dimples.
