Got the same email as you guys, noted mine didn't mention Wolfsburg on it? Only R, I assume that it's the same for you guys. Mine says ordered as it's status so not looking promising wait wise. Black photo also.
Note mines a sunroof, wondering if the peeps with built on their status have sunroofs or not?
My email only says "Its me your new Volkswagen Golf Wagon", no R or Wolfsburg mentioned. Hopefully that is because it is a generic thing sent to all new Golf would-be owners. Black photo also.
My wagon was ordered without a sunroof (I don't like them myself, but have no issues with other people who do).
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).
I just an email "it's me your VW Golf R... congrats" with a blacked out image with 'order' highlighted. An order I made on the 4th July! Have they just caught up?

same, just got the email.
from a mate who recently got his tiquan, it was 9 months from this email to delivery.. lol.
My dealer was pissed with VW sending that email out. They apparently don't know when their allocated vehicles will arrive. The key date is the 8th.

That's cool, definitely need more info than what the email tells us (for those on "Ordered" status, next to nothing). Exciting times for all of us on this thread! Fingers crossed its not too long a wait once it all comes out on the 8th.

After I saw you guys were getting the emails I messaged my dealer yesterday to ask when he thinks he will get an ETA, he came back to me saying that he has received the VIN and that delivery will be late September and mid October delivery. However I have no email...
See what happens next week, I'll keep checking the tracking to see if my VIN appears.
On a side note, does anyone know how long it takes to actually build the car?

I also wonder if the emails went out to Wolfsburg purchases... perhaps there is an early shipment due which dealers were trying to manage but got jumped by head office.
Btw I am envious that you can track it and know when it will arrive. I can't even plan to sell my old car yet.

What are referring to when you say 'actually build'?
Do you mean from the time that your VIN is first displayed on a screen on the factory floor to said vehicle driven to the holding yard?
I have no idea but going by the number some of these big plants churn out in a day, I would think maybe an hour or two. I'm guessing painting/drying/curing/polishing would be one of the slowest processes.
By time to build, I mean actually from the time they get the first piece of metal from the start of the assembly line to the finished car at the end of the assembly line

if you have already got the email about your new Volkswagen that means it's getting ready to start the production line.
I have spoken to my dealer and mine was suppose to start production by now but due to the screen issues that means delay most of you are in the same boat. some cars are already on there way and some will be on the October assembly line like me and should see our cars arrive in port around dec 20 that is the eta at the moment due to Christmas and shut down periods of trucking company's these cars should start to arrive early January which will mean compliance in 2018 instead of 2017.. I already have my cars stock number which in really terms means allocation number
