White wagon, no sunroof. I really wanted a yellow wagon, but VW Aust won't let customers order what they want (even though it is a simple "tick the box" option if you buy your golf R in Germany)

How does your dealer know? Have they given you details of build week or a vin? My dealer said the 8th of August I will be updated... and I put in the order on the 4th of July. I've read here some are getting them very soon. Very odd.

I'm still not sure what's happening here. Are people saying that they are getting delivery dates from dealers for the 7.5 R or the 7.5 Wolfsburg R? I assume Wolfsburg since in this thread. I ordered mine (Wolfy) in 1st week of July but all I get from my dealer is 'late December' delivery. Can someone please clarify whether they have been contacted by VW Oz or they have got get an estimate or 'best guess' arrival date only from a dealer. I can't see much consistency in arrival dates other than we'll know more after the 7th August.

I don't think you should be expecting consistency for delivery dates! After dealing and chatting with a few dealers to get my order down, the firm impression is that dealers get preset allocations in certain colours and sunroof or not in varying volumes depending on their size. Your deposit then secures that allocation but it doesn't seem to be a first in best dressed in terms of getting your car built/delivered. I think its just down to luck whether your allocation is either already built and on the ship or yours is being built in X month and due at X month in Aus.

Disclaimer totally only my views on the matter but would love some confirmation if people think the same or have heard/thought differently!

I've been told November arrival. Ordered about 3 weeks ago. Originally ordered one in May through another dealer, but thy called and said March delivery. They do seem to be scattered all over the place. I'm expecting a call from VW Australia next week to give me VIN and shipping details. White wagon with roof. The wait is killing me!!

I got an order email from VW just now, although I actually ordered on 13th June:

My finance company called the stock controller earlier in the week and he was told December delivery.

I ordered a Wolfsburg wagon 19 June 2017, and was given a VIN for "my" wagon on 27 June, with an "estimated arrival" in Oz of 17 August.

On 6 July I was informed that I was "one lucky bastard" and that my wagon should be landing in Oz on the 17th August while most other Wolfsburgs wouldn't be delivered until December (due to supply problems getting enough active display units).

On 28 July I was told it had been built and was on its way to the docks for loading onto a ship.

As of today (1 Aug ) it still hasn't shown up on the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics tracking site, but the VW system was still saying that it was expected to arrive by the end of August, which left both my salesperson and me a bit confused ( I think it usually takes longer than 30 days for shipment to Oz by sea). I guess it will be here sometime ?

4 August 2017 update - Received an email from VW Oz titled "Hi Gregory, congratulations on your new Volkswagen" which linked to a VW Oz website which is supposed to show the progress of my wagon. Current status showing as "Built" (next step is "Shipment"). So I immediately went on the shipping tracking site and Lo & Behold my wagon is showing as being on the Morning Lucy with a Port Kembla ETA of 10 Sep 2017. I guess I might get to drive it by the end of Sep, so only a month longer than I was initially told.

I am a bit worried about what was happening to it between when it was supposed to be built (around 16 June) and when it was loaded onto the ship on (3 August 2017). All of the explanations I can think of are varying degrees of not good (missing parts, damaged and needed repair, sat out in the salt air for 6 weeks etc).

Order and delivery dates do some to be rather random for these cars.

I just got one as well ordered on 20/06 and my wagon hasn't even been built yet so not overly impressed.

Got the same email as you guys, noted mine didn't mention Wolfsburg on it? Only R, I assume that it's the same for you guys. Mine says ordered as it's status so not looking promising wait wise. Black photo also.

Note mines a sunroof, wondering if the peeps with built on their status have sunroofs or not?
