Yeah I had the same wheels as you in 18s and loved them - had the matt black option been available back then I may very well have opted for them (as I prefer the centre design of the LM over the flatter face of the standard Superturismo which has had a matt black for ages). Having said that the graphite finish looks amazing and is the pick of the bunch in hindsight.
I can let Avdo chip in when he reads this, but you're spirit level/ruler method is basically spot on - there is about 5mm poke. See Avdo's post on his Rays with the same specs here: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1061555 . If it isn't a legality issue in the UK then yes, it comes down to looks - will certainly look better if tucked in more with camber/guard work but should be fairly workable to come up with a solution.I've bit the bullet and ordered some oz leggera's 19"x8" et45 which may take a few weeks to arrive as they only had 19"x8.5" et47 in stock at oz Italy, just hope the 4mm difference in poke is worth the wait lol.I managed to get some Goodyear f1 asymmetric 2 235/35 91y rubber for them at a good price which although IMO are not quite so grippy as my favourite vredestein ultrac vorti but have a very big rim protector on them.i will post some pics when fitted.

Scored a genuine set of these for a OEM look............

I know on my Mk6 I would not get rub around town or highways, but I would on sharp cambered corners when pushing on a bit.

Cheers Dutch,
Searching every evening finally paid off, managed to get these for a steal with only 2000k's travelled on them they're pretty much new. I remember Guy H saying that his GTI lowered on VWR springs with 19x8.5 et51 got a bit of rub up front so a couple of wheel liner screws were removed to alleviate the problem. Might find a few rub issues show up later once the springs settle in?PAST: 88' Mk2 Golf 16v GTI & 97' Mk3 Golf VR6
