Agreed, it's more about showing that wheel design on the 7.. a graphite set on a white R would look the goods I think.

Another factory option on the Golf which is similar to the Motorsport but has a different spoke design and is finished off in anthracite. The car featured is another VWW member, cathaldinneen.

These Rotiforms are a custom brushed finish with matte tinted clear centers and brushed low gloss clear lip. The standard machined finish can be imported here with duties/taxes for around $2,200; a custom finish can be quoted and ordered from Rotiform in the USA. The 19 x 9 ET40 will need some work to fit however.

Note: not a legal fitment in Australia

^ That black R looks the goods. Liking the new RS design as well. Assume specs/pricing will be released when the wheels are ready?

              Yep,

First shipment has been ordered. Freight & exchange rates are the big killers, so we will wait until landed before working out costings.

There is also the 19" VWR rims that we are currently running on our own GTI MK& too:

Can i just suggest that this thread only include wheels that legally fit on the cars in question without modification.

Given the Mk7 GTI and R are quite new we will no doubt be asked thousands of times what wheels will fit so I think it is only fair that we have wheel specs that fall within the legal limit.

i.e. saying an 19 x 8.5 ET 35 will fit with guard work/camber/lowering is not a good idea and will likely backfire when someone doesn't read properly and gets picked up by the police/transport dept for it.

I'm more than happy to add a line to those that are outside legality to make it clear - I'm no fan of running outside the law on these types of issues. I'd still like to keep the pics up where possible though to show the designs off - generally a lot of these wheels will either come in, or will eventually come in the right sizing. As someone who is shopping wheels right now for a Mk7 the biggest stumbling block is actually finding pics available - the shape of the Mk7 is going to suit some designs more than others.

I guess that also lends itself to what is legal and what isn't - I know what my calculations show.. but there will be plenty of people who will come out and disagree strongly with it.

I believe the Mk7 wont be too different in fitment to Mk6 - and I'm struggling to see how people were fitting x8.5 and ET45 (common VMR size which is so popular on the Golfs) without doing something else to make fit.. happy to set a rule for the amount of extra poke which is considered legal without work. On the Mk6 I put this figure around 10mm.

                    Thoughts/comments?

All the Oettinger & VWR rims are 19" x 8.5" ET50 which are legal and a perfect fit. We are running 235 / 35 R18's on the GTI with lowered springs & they fit nice. They can rub the front guard screw depending on shoulder profile.

ET of 50 is required to make an 8.5" work on a MK7 correctly.

VWR rims are on the shelf @ $2695 a set of 4 including GST.

No Oettinger pricing as of yet!

Thanks Guy - I put that at 12mm extra poke over stock GTI (+6mm over stock R) which sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I'll update the earlier 'illegal' posts, and not comment when we are around that 12mm mark.

Excuse me for butting in on the Golf Thread, but would these rims (that fit the Golf) also fit an Octavia RS Mk 2? Those Oettinger rims that Guy posted have got me interested.....although I almost fell off my chair when I saw the price!!!

No problems - the more the merrier.

You would generally not have any issues with any of the Golf fitments given PCD and CB are the same, I can't imagine the guard gap would be materially different, but always worth checking. Given the Neptune wheels are 18x7.5 ET51 from the factory then this would support that theory.

Can I suggest we do the same for tyre options as well?

According to my research, 235/35R18 are load rated at 86 on the tire rack website. These aren't even close to legal. 91 minimum for Golf R as far as I know. Remember that tyre fitters are under no legal obligation to ensure that you are fitting compliant tyre/wheel combos to your car and will therefore sell you anything you ask for. It won't come back to bite them.

Maybe a photo of the tyre placard should be put at the start of the thread to help people with this?

Had a quick google search but didn't find anything neat and tidy - can anyone source and provide? I'll either edit the opening post or link to relevant reply.
