Thanks - hoping to update on an ad hoc basis and have other VWW members add their wheel mods as they start to appear!

BC Forged wheels are made from forged T6061 aluminium and are made to order to your specifications, so it appears a Golf friendly width and offset can be arranged. Not a cheap option with these wheels around $US4000 but there are some cheaper alternatives. Some great designs and finishes, if you're bored have a drool at BC Forged Wheels USA - PYSpeed Automotive Multi-Piece Custom Wheels Built for Every Car Application

A couple of snaps of VWW cars - diesel_DSG's white TSI and MIRSAD's PP GTI (hope they don't mind me including their cars here).

OK, I am by no means advocating crimes against good taste by chucking orange wheels on to a white car, so I've toned it down in picture two. These wheels are fitted to some Passat CCs locally, but also appear on European Scirrocos as well. OEMs crop up now and then but reps will be easier and come from numerous sources, and numerous finishes. Even found a set on EBay UK fitted with Falken tyres for $1,250 (excluding shipping and any import costs).

The Motorsport wheels remind me of Sankey's from the 1920's.

Very common on English cars of the time.

I think the 19 inch wheel grew on me. Whenever I see an 18 inch on a GTI, felt abit too small for my cup of tea.

Each to their own. The 19s definitely have a good look - although I'd have to go aftermarket over Santiagos, and I'd be wanting to lower further. I'm looking after market myself, but sticking to 18s for the extra rubber, lighter weight and better performance. I think 18s suit the Golf just fine, it was the 17s on the Mk6 GTI that definitely looked on the small side.

Nothing like a set of exotic wheels on a Golf. Using genuine wheels won't be cheap, although surprisingly seems to be quite a few odd lots floating around on eBay so tracking down four genuine fronts may be possible, although would require some major work to fit. Also available as reps in more favourable fitments.

Note: not a legal fitment in Australia

Haha true, but I agree with you on the lowering part. I'll do that at one stage later this year.

                        Just springs or coil overs?

Of course.. keep forgetting all cars are now fitted with it. Those KWs are neat but yes, the price ain't pretty, although if the ride quality is good then it may be a cost worth bearing.

Gold on red hmm. Don't know anything about these actual wheels, but the original Vossens look beautiful and come in silver, matte graphite and machined matte black. The 19 x 8.5s do come in ET45 so could be made to fit with a little work and minus that rear end poke! I did a quick calculation and the Vossens would land here with duties/taxes for around $3,300.
