This is a permanent exhibit in the 'why VWA don't give a stuff about their customers' case.
To get a set of these locally means going online for around $5,500 landed (rough estimate only) or visiting one of the handful of stealerships that will get you a set for $7,500 (going on anecdotal evidence).
To put this into perspective once again, the Germans get stuck with 18 inch Cadiz stock, but can option 19 inch for $1,380 AUD. This is where it hurts though, given we start with that point as stock - for $1,535 they can have silver or black Pretorias (or these blue treated ones for $1,830).
$155 is all you pay extra to go from Cadiz to Pretoria in Germany.
And for anyone that would choose Cadiz over Pretorias you're clearly on the wrong thread.

For 19" Cadiz they want around $1200
For 19" Pretoria Silver / Black they want around $1400/$1500 (from the 18")
Tinted windows are standard, but when we choose 19" wheels we get even a darker tint!
I will get my R this week or next, with fresh 19" black Pretorias, I will snap some pictures!

I don't know if I should stick with 225 or go up to 235, as I would like to have more grip, but is this going make my steering feel more numb/heavy? Is it worth going 235?(one odd thing I have noticed is 235 is much cheaper than 225, for example PS3 is on average $50 cheaper per tyre)
My concern with RPF1 is the rigidity of the rim, I have seen some complains about the rim gone out of shape after hitting pothole at speed(from a few Evo and Wrx forum), I don't know how bad this can be as there are uneven roads and pot holes on my daily commute(Upper northshore and northern beaches area of Sydney), so I am considering something slightly heavier and more rigid from Enkei, but then you would have alot more first hand experience with RPF1, if you can share your thoughts that will be great.
Another concern is I don't know how RPF1 will look on a Occy Wagon, as the rim look smaller than it really is, I am not sure if it's a good thing for a Wagon, on the other hand a forum member Martin has Rajin(18*8 I think) on his MK2 Wagon, and I think they look superb, and RS05RR will probably look good as it is similar to the Turini.

I doubt an extra 10mm width of tread will give noticeable gains to most of us normal drivers - the extra few mm of sidewall height might help protect against potholes/kerbs though.
If your chosen rim has a lot of poke & you add a fatter / taller tyre then it might scrape (depending on suspension height).

I've run BBS lightweights. I didn't have problems.

You will be pretty much fine with the same fitments as the Mk7 although if you're going for anything slightly beyond I'd clarify with the Octavia guys.
Great choice of car and look - suggestions will be highly budget dependent though.
I would highly recommend OZ, there is an awesome set for sale right now in 18 x 8 ET48.
