Picked up my GTI today, it's great. Still trying to get my head around the Carplay and Bluetooth etc (which I've never had before). Question, is the car supposed to have voice control? When I press the voice button on the steering wheel or next to the screen it just gives me a message saying voice control not active contact my dealer. Interestingly when I use Carplay I can get it to send texts and make calls etc by voice (and the voice recognition is incredible), but to initiate the voice control I have to press a button within the Carplay menu as the other 2 voice buttons don't work.

Also, I think you may be able to say "Hey Siri" to activate it without pressing any buttons. You may just need to make sure the option in enabled on the phone under Siri.

I hope for new owners they get the full deal.

Problem is they will try to screw me over in any case if I change. I asked today if it was too late to change to the R, they said yes. The GTI will be here in mid to late October!
Assuming you signed subject to finance. I would find another dealer who is more accommodating and then go back to the original dealer and say you've lost your job, have to cancel and need your deposit refunded. Buy the R from the new dealer. Maybe not really the right thing to do but it doesn't sound like the dealer is being very helpful in any event.

But.....
If you paid the MY15 run out price ($49, 990 drive away) you likely got a better deal than you would get if you went in to buy a MY16 model now.
Based on the new pricing (and also based on SA government charges):
Car: $46, 490
Stamp Duty: $1800
12 Months Rego: $690
Registration Plate: $44 (including new registration fee)
Dealer Delivery: $2490 (some dealers charge more and some less)
Total: $51, 514
So an MY16 is slightly more expensive than an MY15 at the run out price. Not a lot more i'll grant you, but you do start negotiations at a higher price.
I signed my contract for a GTI PP based on the run out price and I am happy. Got Driver Assist, Sunroof, Extended Warranty and Premium Plates for just over $53K and I am getting an MY16 model. IMO you would probably be hard pressed to walk in to a dealer at the moment looking to buy a MY16 and do a deal that good.Last edited by nsavage; 19-08-2015, 09:31 PM.

That's still a pretty good deal. Personally I would ask them to cancel the Paint Protection (I am a detailing nut though) and I would get the tint done somewhere else (I got quoted less than half what the dealer wanted to charge me from several reputable tint places here in Adelaide. If you still want the paint protection you can probably find a place that will do Opti Coat (I've heard it is very good) and tint for around $1k.
