I wasn't that adventurous, I just went for white manual with one option - bi-xenons. It's the slightly unusual combination that has stung me I think.

The dealer has told me there's a stack of base spec DSGs around. More specifically, most of the stock on the ground or on the way is:

a) without the bi-xenon option (95%);
b) DSG (80%+, probably more like 90%); and
c) if it has options, they are most likely leather and/or sunroof.

The moral of the story if you want a quick delivery is to take something without bi-xenons but with DSG.

I ordered on 4 October which is probably as early as anyone however according to the dealer my order has been sitting with VWA since then. In practice, VWA get to pass up these orders to VW in Germany about once a month to get a build slot. From there it's the usual 5 months or whatever it is so hopefully mine goes through in a few weeks. When demand is high they tend to prefer basic orders that as many dealers as possible will want, orders with popular options like leather or overall more expensive specs. Mine is none of these which is probably why I haven't been allocated a build slot in the past 2 months.

On another note, I don't understand why someone would spec bi-xenons and DSG. It'll cost nearly the same as the GTI Performance when it's released in March...

I was lucky my dealer already had a white, DSG with a build allocation and was able to add xenons and driver assist without delaying the process.

Your right about plenty of stock DSG about. Would be diving one now if we didn't option up.

Anyway, mine goes into production tomorrow.

$48k seems too cheap, did you get any corp discount?

The dealer here in Melbourne has a standard DSG GTI for $48k, driver's assistance is at least another $1300, Xenons another $2100. Tints anywhere from $200-600 but if it's a dealer tint I can't imagine it being cheap.

Yes we did get corp, but you can believe whatever you want. This will be the 4th vehicle we have bought from them.

And Wippells VW are very good to deal with. And their dealer delivery charge is a lot less than other dealers around the place. Norris VW in Brisbane where I got my Golf charge $2995 dealer delivery but when I was checking out pricing at Wippells they were only charging $2350. They genuinely do want to do a deal and satisfy loyal customers.
