Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Caught the DSG off-guard? Wrong gear was waiting on the other shaft because you were slowing down, then quickly accelerated, leading to the engine hitting the redline a couple of times before the DSG caught up and changed gear. I've done this a few times to myself.

Can anyone comment on the diff in the MK7 compared to MK6?
I had a MK6 GTI manual and it was wheelspin city in the wet (especially after it was tuned).
Is the diff in the MK7 any better?
I've read that it brakes the inside front on exit but does it make it better on exit or just feel more intrusive?
Any info appreciated.
Thanks.
P.S. I know the PP GTI has the better diff but am only interested in a manual.

"Good morning Ben, we got a bad news for you. We have just received a note from S2T in the states that they will be making a couple of small revisions to the VW2 design (Mk7) and will begin manufacturing shortly."
Sucksbut I guess they're making it better which is a good thing?

Atleast that means you'll get the revised paddles which will be better, so fingers crossed.2014|MK7|GTI|PureWhite|DSG|Bi-Xenon|Leather|Driver Assist|Tint

Tint recommendations for a white GTI?
Got the Polo done with Tint-a-Car's 'Midnight Express'. Weighing up whether to stick with that or go for something with a bit more transparency as the sun goes down - F1 for eg...If anyone has photos of their GTI with either of these tints it'd be appreciated
What's a good price for tinting a Golf these days? I think the Polo was done during a deal - $295.MY16 MK7 Golf GTI

What certainly has changed is the dynamics of the chassis and geometry of the front suspension. The traction control/ESP systems are likely also slightly faster. As a result, power-down will be incrementally better.
Of course the greatest diff in the world won't help the car overcome the laws of physics - if you're pushing loads of torque through unloaded front wheels in the wet, you're going to get wheelspin - lots and lots of it (especially if you tune a Mk7). When you've got any significant lock on, the PP's diff will certainly be better, although I really only noticed a difference with the PP diff in higher-speed corners (say 40km/h or so) - below that, XDS/TC will be fairly intrusive in either car if you want to get lairy.
I've only driven the GTI and GTI PP on public roads so far, so nothing crazy (will be driving the PP at an upcoming drive day and am keen to see how the diff performs). I've also not driven a tuned Mk7 GTI.Last edited by AdamD; 22-04-2015, 09:13 AM.2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

Anyone confirm if the Automatic Kerb View Function works? Seems like a handy feature to protect those rims from gutters.MY16 MK7 Golf GTI
