That's right, only once your car is built, your dealer should be able to email it to you.

Did VW's pr department write the article ? I like my GTI (mk6) but talk about dismissing past issues with the lightest stroke of a pen.

What the hell are yous on about?? The MK7 Golf was awarded the "title" Wheels car of the year. Ask them if they wrote the article or how much they paid!

I think people have to remember that Wheels are rating the car, not the brand, not the after sales service.

They are just looking at the car which is great.

It's Wheels Car Of The Year award, and not car of the decade award, so why should history come into the equation when picking what car was judged the best in that year.

what we are on about is the writing style, I don't doubt the quality of the car, I thought the style was over the top in my opinion.
Why should I go ask them ? I thought people were allowed to express their opinions in this forum.

such as water pump and inlet manifold failures. and of course DSGs

I agree with you comments about the dealer experience, but that is not what they are looking at, only the car.

Hi all,

I have decided that I will start looking into upgrading my 2010 GTI to the 2014 gti or r (when it gets announced)
Over the next few weeks I will start the ball rolling, but I am in no rush.
I just wanted to ask a few questions just to get an idea.

Has anyone ordered the following for under 50k or do you think it is possible?
Dsg, Bi -xenons, leather, sunroof and park assist?

Also any news on when the r will be announced?

I am looking at trading in my current gti which is nearing 58k clicks but if I only get 20 odd k for it will look into selling it privately.

And yeah if the wait is still like 6 months it might be worth waiting for the next model. Not sure.

I believe the R announcement is due in Q2 2014. It'll probably be around this time next year by the time we see a few Mk7 R owners on the forum.
