The Official "I have ordered/received my new MK7 Golf" Thread
Nice set of Rims.
I have a GTI being delivered later this month, can anyone recommend a good place to get paint protection in the Sutherland Shire or Alexandra and a detailer to get the out going car ready for sale.
Thanks.
I'm booked in to Reflect Effect in North Parramatta next week for Opti-Coat (and associated prep work). Dave seems to get pretty good reviews and was active on Detailing Paradise (forum) a couple of years ago with plenty of examples of his work. The work looks really good so hopefully mine comes up well. I'll let you know how it goes.

Bit premature but I've just got booked in to pick up my R (PW, Leather, Roof, DA) tomorrow at 1pm! Super excited and looks like there may not be much sleep for me tonight.
Then it's off to get its Opticoat-Pro and Tint on Saturday. Pics to follow.

Good price mate...how does the rear cabin / leg space and boot space compare to your BMW X1?
I don't know ... the X1 is the wife's car. She's really good about it though ... I can borrow it if she sends me down to the shops
I had a look at the rear seat room but as our kids are grown up not really an issue. I'll be using the Golf to drive to the train station ... and maybe a little weekend driving. I could only drive the base 90TSI model at the dealer (I went to 3) and it was a real surprise.
Now the waiting ...

Thanks Jimi, also interested in Opti-Coat but was hoping to find a place closer to home or work. Let me know what you think of the result.
Gents any ideas what I should look out for when picking up the R later at the dealership, apart from the usual paint defects, scratches, all lights working etc?
Any known issues that fellow members have seen in their vehicles on collection? Thanks.

I'd check the wheels for damage and under front bumper for scrape marks. Also have a good look over the interior and if dealer has done window tinting make sure door cards are put back on correctly.
This is what I used recently when picking up my GTI. It's a combination of a few of these types of lists that I found online - mine had two other sections but they related to things I needed to organise beforehand and specs of my build in particular.
Quality Control
1. Check delivery mileage
2. Check the oil, water and other fluids and that they are not left at shipping levels
3. Look very carefully for any small dents or chips. Crouch low and look along the sides of the vehicle. If wet, tell dealer that a closer inspection will occur later
4. Inspect paint for swirls, wheels for marks from ratchet straps
5. Make sure dealer has filled in and stamped the PDI part of the service book
6. Check panel alignment inside and outside
7. Test full, half beam, indicators, fog lights, hazard warning and interior lights
8. Test rear lights and make sure all sections are working
9. Check tyres for damage, pressures and the spare & tools in the boot
10. Check that all transport blocks have been removed from the suspension springs
11. Check the bolt caps and centre badges have been fitted on the wheels
12. Check VIN numbers match between the car and documentation
13. Check traffic is enabled on nav system and that version 2 of maps is provided
