Hey GolfRSweden, thanks for the info on the new CarPlay system. I've just ordered an MY16 GTI which comes with the new infotainment system and I'm curious to know if it integrates with the smaller MFD screen? For example, if using Apple Maps through CarPlay, will it show the next turn on the MFD?

I'd also like to know how well Voice works - when pressing button on steering wheel, does it activate Siri (or Android equivalent)?

& how is Music App?

MY16 GTI ordered! The ship with my car on it just left Perth and is due in Sydney on the 26/7, hopefully I will be in the car early/mid August.

No voice control. Put the wing mirror control to left and it will dip for kerb view hen reversing. Also can't get the artwork to display any ideas?

I took delivery of my new Golf R 3 days ago and have a problem with the multi function display.
Once the car has been switched off for 4 hours or more the MFD screen is completely blank upon start-up, it takes between 5 and 15 minutes before coming on (when the car is still warm it takes between 10 and 30 seconds for the screen to switch on).
The radio will still play but the screen is completely blank and no button pushing will get it to come.
Even selecting reverse will not make the screen come on.
It is going back to the dealers next week but thought someone may have previous experience with this problem.

I think the dealer is the best place for this one. Best not to touch anything that may void your warranty.

I'm not sure if this has been covered at all, but does your Wolfsburg Hatch feature the MY16 upgrades? (The 6.5" Hi-Res Display?)
Also, what colour did you go with? Still trying to figure out what the Pearl White would look like

Yeah the Wolfsburg Edition has the MY16 Upgrades, plus a few others:

- Black exterior mirrors
- Black Pretoria 19" wheels
- Heated Carbon Nappa leather seats
- Driver Assist with rear cross traffic alert etc
- 6.5" screen with Android Auto/Mirrorlink etc

The only option is the sunroof.

I went with Oryx White Pearl. It was my second choice, but I think it should look nice with the black wheels. I haven't been able to find any pics of the white pearl yet, interested to see if it's much different to the normal white!

Now this is almost the perfect spec I would have in a heartbeat, if I didn't already have a Mk7 R. The only changes or additions I would want, if available here, would be silver Pretoria wheels and folding mirrors. My RAYS wheels have similar styling cues to the Pretoria's, but at half the replacement cost, much lighter and stronger, they make much more sense than originals, even if they are Jap wheels.

Thanks for the detail Primordial! Looking at those pictures you found I reckon you've got a top notch car on the way. I locked a Golf R MY16 one in before the Wolfsburg edition was announced (being told Late September/October delivery) and all the Non-Wolfsburg edition MY16 R's are now being pushed back and produced after all the Wolfsburg ones! You're very lucky to have timed it so well.

You'll have to make sure you post some nice hi-res photos of the Oryx Pearl - Black Pretoria look! Very excited for you

Yeah the Rays/OZ wheels are definitely the business! I've gotta say if the Pretorias weren't included in the sale price of the car I'd definitely be going for OZ instead!

D'oh - sorry the production has been pushed back on yours! If it's any consolation, I dont think any Wolfsburg ed's are being delivered until late Sept at the earliest anyway.

I shall definitely post some pics when it arrives - Sept 23rd, at this stage. You should too!
