That will be quite a change !!!! (in a good way - except you will be worried parking it anywhere in case some badly parked dunger dings your new pride & joy).

Wow! The only way to have a more profound upgrade would be to have come from. Lada Niva... enjoy! As I'm very sure you will...

        • I've had tuned LS1s in the past which felt abit stronger from 60kph plus but the golf offers so much as an overall vehicle with little compromise between comfortable daily to fun weekender with heaps of tech.

          • I went from a 1.5 litre Mitsu Lancer to a Mk 6 R. The clutch in the Lancer, unlike in my current Mk 7 R, lasted 170,000 kms

Only 10 times a day - you weren't very keen, were you ?

I'm supposed to be collecting mine on Friday - it seems to have been ages, but I know lots of others have much longer waits.

                  • After coming from a front driver, I'm still noticing the steering more than the hilarious gas pedal in the 7.5. I think you naturally just dial in a bit more lock for a front-driver to compensate for understeer even when your not playing pretend getaway driver.

Anyway, I think I might do an oil-change at 1000k. Anything different about a Golf's oil change ?
                    2017 - Golf R 7.5 - Blue - DSG - Proper Roof - DAP - Res' delete - Dynaudio delete
2008 - Mazda 2 - (Maybe my first child scared me a bit) -1998 - Wrx (modded up to but not including forged pistons)
                    1988 - Corolla TwinCam - (couldn't insure a 323 Turbo)
1967 - Tonka Tip Truck - Red with 2 inch plastic rims and a massive sand scoop.

I pick mine (R Wolfsburg wagon) up tomorrow arvo (and yes, time has seemed to go bit slowly lately, so I've kept busy detailing my Octavia vRS getting it ready for sale)

                        • I must be the only one who doesn't like the Pretorias. I much prefer the Spielbergs because I was never a fan of the R wheels in the Mk 7 (unsure on name)

My current independent VW mechanic recommends running mineral oil and hammering hard it for the first 1000kms or so for the piston rings to seat properly. He mentioned this after indicating my current MK5 GTI (owned since new and using synthetic since new) consumed a bit of engine oil .

                            Opinions on advice?
I went with what the Owner’s Manual said to do for the first 2,000 kms or so.

I agree with you. However I think the wheels on the mk 7 are better than the Spielbergs but the Spielbergs are better than Pretorias
