Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

But users of all modern carparks must take tickets out of car, and insert at paystation before returning to car and exiting.
That little clip would have been useful back-in-the-day.
still comes in handy for those 2 - 3 hour free car parks where you dont need the ticket validated.

i actually didnt use my ticket holder the other day and dropped my ticket in the shop !

    • For those that have the 7.5 R, can you see 2 bolts showing on your driver side side skirts? They are noticeable on both driver and passenger side on mine, not sure if I need to take it back to get looked at or if it's normal?

        • Hi Kenny

I just looked at my 7.5 R - and it does not have the bolts as shown in your pic - I can send pic if needed

You need to talk to dealer about that I think - I would be!

            • Going to call dealership today and ask them to have a look.

Just in a side note, curious to know how many kms your cars had when you picked them up from the dealership.
Mine had 18 kms on the odometer, how many did your cars have?
              Cheers

              • Somewhere around the 20 mark seems normal - my Alltrack had 21 and my Skoda had 20.

                  • Took it back to dealership, they can see the bolts. It was taking too long so I have booked in to take it back next Friday.
They are going to try and take the trim off to take the skirts out and try to tighten it back and if that doesn't work then they are going to order in new parts.
Great start to the 7.5R ownership... Hahaha

Also, anyone use the performance monitor on the R? Had a colleague in the car and he noticed that my psi indicator was hovering at around 7psi when idle. He reckons it should be in the negative. Anyone else can check on theirs?

                    Cheers

                      • 0.35 bar 'absolute' is about right at idle.

Is sub 50 drive away going to be possible now that the 7.5 is out?
                            Here's one.

I've seen the car. Its nice. Sunroof, DAP, etc.
Asking price is sub $50K, and thats before any haggling.
                            G'luck.

                            • Mine too. 0.35 at 700rpm. As long as there's any gases passing over the exhaust turbine I can't see how the boost would be negative. I've always thought my turbo'd motors have had more twist than the NA's even at very low rpm.

Could he be thinking of the manifold pressure ?

                              • It is absolute pressure. Most people only think of pressure above atmospheric. 0 bar absolute equals -1.0 bar gauge. Does that make more sense? It follows that 0.35 bar equals - 0.65 bar gauge.
