I went into Mercedes Last week with friend looking at A250 and the sales person was trying to say it was better than golf r! I upset her when I said she was joking. Her comeback was simply "you either want just a VW or you want a mercedes" I'm surprised how many people just buying the badge!

In addition to testing the wheel fragments for incorrect construction, they looked at the recorded data in the car (such as speed, g-forces etc) and found data contradicting the story of the driver.
It is now with his insurance company, they are going to repair the car. Quite a lot of damage was done to the steering, suspension, brakes and driveline. The rear axle was 50mm out of alignment for example.

My Merc has developed a rattling/creaking sunroof, rattling seat belt mount, loose plastic panel behind the driver's A panel hitting the door each time I open it. I'm sure it's related to the suspension being far too stiff and lacking much travel. They would have had to cut corners to get the car down to the price and the technology is incredible. Can't fault the service I received when buying the car, they do make you feel a bit more special than VW but I suppose you pay for that
. The Merc double clutch box is also infuriating but the engine pulls like a train. Can't get anywhere near the claimed fuel consumption figure as well. The manufacturers must know how to manipulate those figures but always found the GTI's MUCH closer. Just need to off load the Merc now! I think driving dad's superb S3 made me decide to not tolerate the Merc any longer. Looking forward to driving the R and GTI PP tomorrow.

I guess this was always going to be the most likely outcome wasn't it (the contradicting story v the facts)Originally posted by Adrian_R View PostAfter investigating, VW wiped their hands of it.

Same thing happened to my Merc CLA ,noises from the sunroof, seat belt, door panels, back seats , and so on, an the last noise I had was every time I turned the car on it was making a creaking noise from the muffler area, again glad I decided to change it for the Golf R, when I had the Benz I also had a Scirocco R which I still having and love it and the comparison was obvious the entry level of merc is not as good as the entry level in Audi with the A3 ,S3 or even S1 or the top of the range of the VWs Rs.

They don't claim they're the same size. The top picture is the 5.8" Discover Nav and the bottom picture is the 8" Discover Pro which is an option in other markets (with 5.8" standard, but the 8" looks better so it's prevalent in promotional material). It's not an option here because VWA suck.MY14 MK VII GTI | Pure White | Manual | Bi-Xenons (his)

As per my reply to your post in the Photo thread where you have asked the same question - that is the 8" Discover Pro headunit, which is not available in Australia but is offered as an option in other markets (including Europe and New Zealand).Originally posted by rudiger View Postwhy dose the screen in other country's look bigger but they all claim its still 5.8' ??2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG

Per the wheel thread apparently at least one dealer is offering to bring them in, although they're charging an exorbitant fee to do so (someone floated around $1,800 per corner). They can also be ordered online from Germany, but even then it's still around $1,020 per corner before freight, duties and taxes.Originally posted by rudiger View Postahh i see now, thank you. yes VWA is **** because i want it and these rims, looks like they don't make it to Aus ether (i dislike the stock rims)
Much better off to pick out a top notch set of after market alloys than the Pretorias - for that money you can add in OZ Ultraleggeras or BBS CH-Rs.
Not sure why the costs are so high though. The Germans can upgrade from 18 to 19 inch Cadiz for 900 euro (which our cars are already specced to anyway), and for a further 100 euro can pick the Pretorias.

They're probably ordering them as spare parts, which will always attract a wacky price compared to factory fit.Originally posted by Dutch77 View PostPer the wheel thread apparently at least one dealer is offering to bring them in, although they're charging an exorbitant fee to do so (someone floated around $1,800 per corner).
