Thanks I-Ross. Got the fright of my life!! Just passed another car coming the other way, turned my high beams on and this massive Bull loomed taking up my entire windscreen.....talk about life flashing in front of your eyes.
Your specs are what I would be looking at (driver assist may have saved my life, and leather and heated seats lovely); my dealer will no doubt love me coming back within 2 months to buy another car (did a good deal in my R) so should be able to negotiate a good price, but would you mind sharing via PM your price? Cheers
What makes you think the GTI PP is the way to go so soon after going with an R?
Jimi let's say the Bull didn't make it!! Luckily he was side on when I hit him literally at full speed not sure if I hit the breaks or driver assistance did but I stopped within 50 feet of impact all airbags deployed cabin full of smoke and me incredulous that I was still alive!!
Re GTI performance moving to 1 car household for 12 months with more km's travelled so looking for performance still but a little more comfort and slightly better fuel economy. Also about to do a house Reno so if I can shave $6-8k of lease cost that's a win. Being sensible and not really needing AWD day to day combined with GTI PP generally being rated as better all rounder to R (refer Wheels review in April) sees it leading at this stage. However, will try and drive them back to back before deciding as the R was a beast when you booted it
I killed my R last night on a country highway doing 100 km's when a 1 ton bull materialised. Amazingly I walked away without a scratch, good work VW safety systems!! Whilst I loved the R may look at a GTI performance in Candy White as the sensible choice...will think it over...
Wow, that must have been a frightening few seconds, especially at that speed, it could have been so much worst. Glad no one was hurt apart from the bull.
^ thanks Fab, haven't heard from the assessor yet as happened near Violet Town last night but the engine's destroyed and the chassis must be f**#%%d so assume it is not repairable (interior is fine). Was humming along at the time too loving the new car/drive.....
Fwarrrrk Andrew!!!!! So glad you are ok!
Don't get the Gti. You'll regret it. Get the R again!!
Thanks Koe, and we'll see on what I decide, will drive both before I decide (maybe I'd be safer with a big Ford Ranger with a massive bull bar etc lol). Was thinking the Lapiz Blue was a bit "loud" anyway, so would likely switch to a pure white (or even the Limestone Gray ftw
