Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Factory options add nothing to the value except in rare cases, mine only had leather and bluetooth, was immaculate as the local VWW contingent can attest and was under 20,000km.
As most would be aware by now I'm fairly in touch with what something is worth and how to work a deal, and was priced under $30k. I can be honest - it was wholesaled for $26.5k, and the dealer had it advertised at $29.5k. I'm guessing it went for no more than $29k. Point is I had a deal done for the other car and needed to move it on.
To be honest I'd pick a second hand car like this clearly looked after by an enthusiast than an unknown stock example that probably was thrashed out of the driveway every day.
Anyway I'm drifting off topic from the R here so I'll end it there.

I can tell you that the S3 is not a good car if you're into drifting.... I tried (on a race track).
The RS4 on the other hand is much better.

Makes me very nervous. Especially with the illegal tyres the factory fitted on mine.

Dropped of my R tonite to Dan at Dans Garage for some paint correction TLC and opticoat magic
Report post 1 week of ownership: 2 longish freeway trips dispatched quietly and comfortably no drone good fuel economy about 7-8l/100kms, xenons spesh at night and interior lighting fabulous, sat nav whilst small screen is working well and choosing good routes, traffic reports enabled and accurate, the odd squirt is occurring with poise and grip happy with the soundalator at 75% can hear Dsg burp much clearer and induction whine, overall very happy with the striking Lapiz Blue and holding off for now on painting the Cadiz which are looking good/classy. No regrets on saving $10k over an S3 (PP)

Have you told VW that they sold you a car that doesn't comply with ADRs? I'm astonished that a major car manufacturer could let that through quality control. I would refuse to drive the car until they replace them and I wouldn't be paying for the loner they give you either.Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.
