Thanks sekas. There's plenty of reading there. Look forward to more of your posts containing links. It's always easier to ask others to do the leg work.
DrK, you have been a good patient! Congratulations on being decisive and leading by example. Your choice of colour and options leaves nothing on the table. Your white Mk6 looks gorgious, too good to say adios to! I hope your new medicine does not leave you wanting more.
Had to be grey. My r32 was deep blue pearl, Subaru before that was silver. Thought about white again for a while...
Love black - but too hard to maintain.
Red screams 20year old boy racer.
Options - go of resale down the track
Mixed emotions on selling the mk6 - has been and remains an amazing car.
Sure the mk7 will be the perfect remedy for losing the mk6 ......

Love that, im only 22 getting lapiz blue because blue is my favourite colour and it just happend to look really good.
Funny about the boy racer part, i help run the NT car club and i would say the only people with red are the ones with commodores. All the boy racers prefer white and black.
Andrew - can't seem to find that pic?? Would love the pretorias... Hopefully we can get them later down track. Might go non OEM instead me thinks...
Pricing still TBC. Dealer reckons late this week tho. Fingers crossed.
Sekas - nice one mate. My bro just picked up a red mkv Gti 5door - DSG/stage1/AWE catback. Lives in Alice Springs.
Be interesting to see the blue this time around - loved the Deep Blue Pearl in my mkV R32!!
Nice work Sekkas, that's the shot. Doc, assuming Pretorias are a no go something like a black Oz Ultralegga would work well. Have also seen a NZ Lapiz Blue R with Cadiz rims custom painted gloss black (similar look to the current Talledegas)
Thinking about silver wheels this time around - to tie in with mirror caps.
I've already had two cars with gloss black rims
I think the silver with the grey will look alright.
Maybe like these OZ racing
Or even these VWR (springs too)
Some good wheels ideas Doc.. I'm biased towards the OZ having fitted them previously, although the ST style is closer to the VWR wheels pictured which also work. I believe these are made by Team Dynamics (pro race 1.2) so there might be some savings there over the VWR branded gear. I was able to source the OZs locally for not much more than a private import from the UK (pm me for details if you ever go that way).

I've ordered an s3 without ever being in one, apart from a specked up a3.
I'm about 6'2 and not the thinnest bloke on this fine land.
My head boarders roof touching, vision is ok but not perfect for vertical. The rear seats when the fronts are forward look unfriendly too.
The audi is tight but reasonably comfortable, the Gti was ok but didn't have the same impression and presence as the s3.
Now the r is about to turn up the only thing that would swing me is if the interior and seating positions were more generous.
Can anyone shine a light about how different the interior proportions are?
Other logical option is to sit in a sauna till it turns up!
Dimensions don't tell the full story, I'm 6'6 and the A3 Sportback is definitely more cramped than Golf 7. The Audi's interior design has much more elements that slope inwards, whereas the Golf is more box-like. Personally the Octavia is far more roomy, even though it has less height than the A3!
I have a mate who is a good 130kg or more. He had an S3 8P and it was a very tight fit. He practically had to drive the thing using only the odd numbered gears because he couldn't get his arm back far enough for the even numbered ones. If I were you, I would definitely try before you buy.
Also look at what type of seat you get, and leather. The A3 probably didn't have sport seats I'm guessing. The S3 will. In the Mk 6 Golf the cloth Recaro seats felt tighter than the leather. Maybe it was more to do with the grippy material than actual seat size but it was a significant difference in terms of feel when I looked at the two options.
