Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

        • Hi all,

          New Mk7R owner here.

Would anyone have recommendations for an R specialist workshop in Sydney?

There are so many workshops in Sydney that specialise in VW and work on GTI's and R's everyday. What part of Sydney are you in?

That should be enough to get you started. All of these workshops are highly regarded for VW/Euro car log book servicing and modifications. Pacortech in particular have a really nice new workshop.

I can recommend Pacortech in Ingleburn. Excellent facility and Dave knows his stuff.

Digging up an old thread - looking at getting back in a VAG, specifically a 7.5R, after trading my Mk6 GTI for a family car a number of years ago.

One question I can't get a definitive answer on is the virtual cockpit - I've read that it was standard on 7.5Rs but looking at carsales it appears that only cars after 2019 have them (with the possible exception of the wolfsberg)

So was the digital dash an option, were there regional variations, was it standard on the wolfie only...what's the go??

                          • Should be Mk7.5's that have it, so anything after 2018-ish. Like this one: carsales.com.au and this one carsales.com.au

If you do find an older model without the digital dash - it can be retro fitted which is about $2.5k from memory.

And if you happen to consider an immaculate low km Mk7 GTI then I am selling mine.

                            • Thanks Lucas - Nice to see you're still on here. Both of those are special editions, so perhaps it was just the specials and wolfies that got it initially. This 2018 "Grid", for example, has the analogue dash. No biggie really, just curios and a nice to have.

From MY19 onwards all R's had the Digitial Dash as standard with the exception of the "Grid" models which was a lower spec (and cheaper) R. So technically all 7.5 Rs except the Grid. A few lower spec 7.5 R's may have slipped through in 2017 when it was an optional extra on MY18s.
