Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

      Found this on Autoinstruct

Displays the engine oil temperature in the cluster.

      Select Control unit 17
      Control unit long coding
      Byte 10
      Bit 01 Activate

      I haven't tested it yet

That will allow you to select oil temperature in the driving data screen but it won't replace the water temperature gauge.

My driving data page is has "no entries". Do I have to specify what I want there on the centre screen ?

              • How do you get the dials reduce down when the nav is on to maximise the view in the dash?

Switch Discover Pro display to "Sport", scroll sideways to "Performance Data", and scroll 1 of the 3 gauges up/down until you see the oil temperature symbol.

I used pomponazzi there is a extensive thread in the detailing section others have posted shots of their cars with opticoat/crystal coat check it out mate hope it helps
thanks for that - there doesn't seem to be anyone in Adelaide that does pomponazzi. Near me I have a choice of Ceramic Pro, Opticoat or Gyeon, all look pretty good options just hard to choose one!

I would definitely go a ceramic coat over opticoat tho

When I used to get Opticoat for under $500 it wasn't a bad move but I just can't make the economics work on any of the coatings on a Golf. Isn't Pomp like $2k+?! That's half a set of top notch wheels.

I'll just do the detail myself. Admittedly not a major issue on a white car regardless.
