Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • What are people getting fuel economy wise? If you use the vehicle as a daily driver, do you drive around in economy/comfort/normal/race? I'm currently driving around in comfort and going from a TSI to an R the petrol seems to be disappearing at a rate of knots in comparison. I was aware it was going to happen, but I was still hoping to get over 500km out of a tank, I haven't gone through a whole tank yet but it's not looking likely that I'll get close to 500km.

550-600 is realistic in daily/traffic driving in normal/comfort. Race mode and spirited driving can reduce that substantially!

Maybe it's just the way I drive! Thanks for the reply, will keep an eye on things.

          • Wow. 550-600? I wish!

Over 8000km of driving (mostly daily grind in traffic with some fun whenever I can), I've averaged 440km on a tank. Always use BP Ultimate. I do have roof racks and a bike up there for 60% of the time which I know has an impact. I do try to take it off whenever I don't need it (and always before a long freeway drive).

A/C always on and set to 24 with full auto mode turned on.

I do use Race mode for brief spots of overtaking most days etc bit typically have it in Individual (Comfort suspension & steering. Eco engine, A/C and noise). Again, Individual mode on Freeways (where the suspension and noise is annoying).

Put in my car for paint, interior and wheel protection today. Mr. Detail in Moorabbin, Victoria. Getting the Gyeon Quartz coating, three layers baked in for the exterior. Get the car back Saturday morning, will try and take pictures if weather permits. I miss my car already though.

Refer to above. Here are some pictures taken by the detailer and a few that I took.

Some later photos I took of the rear after the car being out in the rain for the majority of the day, not like you can tell though.

Could not be happier with the work done by the guys at Mr Detail.
