Thanks - I've contacted them via their website just now. I appreciate the reminder!

Does anyone have any recommendations for an independent in south west Sydney to do a timing belt and water pump? Vw quoted $2300. have signed up to Lawyers mentions, thanks Lenny.

it looks like Adero is not interested in taking this on anymore? all the survey links and references to the class action no longer exist on their website?

just getting my second thermostat housing/waterpump replaced. first one done at 50,000kms and now at 67,000kms both times $1700 down the drain.

Same issue just recently. 53000 km travelled. Out of warranty. Considering the US class action, this should have just been a cut and paste job.

Adero does look like they are not pursuing this anymore.

                Update to my earlier post.

VWA came to the party and replaced the water pump at no charge.

My advice if you are in a similar situation is to do the following:
                1. Be familiar with the "Motor vehicle sales and repairs - An industry guide to the Australian Consumer Law". The most important part is consumer guarantees. It generally trumps warranties.
                2. Let them tell you what needs repairing.
                3. Stand your ground. They will not offer to do it for free. You have to ask. You can use words such as 'good will' and 'fit for purpose'.
                4. Be prepared as they will low ball and negotiate. You need to stand your ground.
Hopefully this saves the next unlucky sole +$2k.

Also, Adero would not pursue this case as it is covered by ACL. VWA would have acknowledged this (to Adero I suspect), knowing most customers have no idea of their entitlements or even some basic expectations of a motor vehicle.

All car sales etc have playbooks and they use it to their advantage.
