Interested in a clone cable Tony. I'll PM you tomorrow.

Mark - what turbo do the Megane RS's have? A guy at work just bought one and i have been trying to get him to see you about a tune. Apparently Renault offer a tune he was telling me?

You'll get smacked down for clone talk here.
Have you updated the fixed clones to the latest VCDS firmware

            • Before you get too excited and part with your $$ I'll let you know that I don't use any clone BDM gear even as a backup, certainly you wouldn't want to use it unless your prepared for some grief. Most of the clone BDM ones are based on the first Dimsport offering but with dodgied pirated software. The other thing is, what are you going to do with said chunk of Data once you have it ? - not much.
If you do stuff it then you will need someone like myself to resurrect it again and that could be a costly affair....especially if I am in the market for a bigger turbo at the time

The clone VCDS cables too are hit and miss and many functions do not work reliably and now that the price of the real item has fallen quite a bit over what it was a few years ago when I bought one, I think even the most costly full hex can cable is a good option for your $50K car its very well made too with a proper housing, pin shape and size plus the cable is heavy duty.

              • Manual.
                Two reasons:-
                1. A more enjoyable driving experience.
                2. Bad experiences with DSG's

Two reasons (well, a lot more)

                  1. A more enjoyable driving experience

                  2. Boring experiences with manuals

                  • Missus has a manual.

She wants a dsg though for comfort factor.

for one reason only, Sydney Traffic.

I do regret not getting manual sometimes though

                      • I've got a manual TDI because my previous cars where autos (Falcons) and I prefer driving manuals. I live in a rural area with very little in the way of traffic, however, I can see why people living in capital cities would choose DSG.

                        • After 6 years with a mk5 GTI with a DSG (that didn't give us too many problems) we bought a mk6 GTI manual, a much better drivers car, although a bit of a pain in traffic. Still, wouldn't get rid of it for anything, we absolutely love it!

                          • I love my manual and have a DSG in the family van which is boring (but has been problem free) and have always said I wouldn't buy a DSG in my own car which is more about fun (and doesn't have to do city traffic)...

...but everytime I drive another DSG (like the Polo GTI I did some VCDS coding for the other day or the Golf GTI I put a boost guage in for someone a little while back) I like it just a little bit more. It doesn't feel at all like the compromise your typical slush box auto used to be. .. something that doesn't come through so much in the Van

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

                            • Manual, all my cars after my first one have been manual.

                              Reasons:
                              1. I enjoy manually shifting gears while driving
                              2. Hate the look of the auto shifter
                              3. I feel it's an essential part of a sportscar
