One safety feature people haven't mentioned is that the car must be unlocked to refuel the car on Polo/Mk6. If any fire accident should occur any other occupants in the car can escape easily with out worring about locking/deadlocking.

What are we on about here? Pull up at the servo, lock your car (as I always do), press the filler cap to unlatch it and fill up!
If you live somewhere that someones gonna siphon your tank, then move, or put it in a garageCurrent drive:2016 Golf GTI 40 Years in Pure White

Me thinks that a number of MkVI owners/owners-to-be/aspirant owners here are a touch chauvinistic.
Grow up! the MkVI isn't perfect - just like any other car out there (MkVs included)
Learn to accept other POVs w/o getting defensive about the car you own and perhaps then we can have open discussions about these cars we love.
I get the feeling that the defensive replies seen here have an ulterior motive to them.
The actions of some on this thread reminds me of another character here that would defend the car he owned to the hilt and shortly after he sold it, repeated the same criticism of the car that he fought so hard against (as justification as to why he sold it). Childish!Last edited by triode12; 25-05-2011, 11:04 PM.

This is my first european car, my first VW, my first Golf and my first GTI. What do I think of the push and pop out fuel flap? Awesome. Do I care if they never bring back the lever? I don't. If they introduced a button, then I am happy to have that too.
Although they could have included the auto folding side view mirrors for the oz market and that Sat Nav should be standard for the price here or should not be so heavily priced as an option.

+1 for the option of auto folding mirrors! i was also hoping that that at some stage before i ordered my GTI the colour MFD was brought in as an option in the Aus market - not yetMY18 MKII Tiguan 162TSI R-Line | Deep Black | DAP | Sunroof

No place to hang the fuel cap on my Tdi...a real pain. My partner's Hyndai i30 has a fuel cap holder so did most of my other cars e.g Peugeot, PorscheMY19 Polo GTi 2.0 DSG

The two cars I run all the time one has the lever inside and the other I push the flap and I find both convenient, easy and just a different way of doing it. The lever haters seem to be just showing their Jap car hating bias (or envy) or having early onset dementia problems. On both cars I take the keys with me as I get out and if I'm on my own I lock them as I walk away to pay. The changeover to flap pushing on the Mk6 is not pennypinching by VW - that can be seen instead in their failure to change over the placement of the indicators/wipers and the handbrake to suit righthand drive. The ADR's don't enforce it so they don't do it.Nov '15 Polo 81TSI manual white
