Every time I pull alongside a white GTI I get scared it's yours.

And what you drive, but that argument has been done over and over I'm sure.

Yeah I'm very protective about where I park only because it just infuriates me at the amount of people who whack doors etc into your car. I see it in the work car park every day. I'm fine with people not "getting" car enthusiasts but what's the excuse for total disregard of other peoples property?

Isn't that 95% of R owners or R32 or GTI for that matter?

Angry summed it up though, for the most part if you drive like a ****head you'll get noticed. I've been pulled over once in the R and it's only because 2 young ladies noticed me doing something stupid. They couldn't do anything other than have a chat and do RBT but I'm sure they could have given me a hard time if they wanted to.

Always the driver or the driving, rarely the car. That being said I drove past a traffic stop in Bankstown last weekend where the offending driver was in a brand new Lambo. We dont see many of them around these parts (I still live in the area) so it was probably an invite for a stop...
I saw this Lambo again last Wednesday in Parramatta going up and down Church Street past the restaurants. Then I see it on the news over the weekend...

My wife commented at the weekend when she was a passneger that the R attracts a lot of looks from other road users / pedestrians - something I'm not usually aware of when driving!!

I don't acknowledge GTi owners, not through snobbery, but through the sheer number on the road ... But I do other R's if/when I see them on the road.

No problems with plod or other road users tbh. but it's probably cus I'm a mild mannered janitor & never speed - honest!!

That's no doubt due to the loud 'burp' that can be heard coming from your exhaust as you are up shifting at redline.

It's the DRLs and LED tails that attract most people. Every car that has an LED DRL attracts me. I guess they do "improve visibility" by others during the day.

I'm waiting for an aftermarket DRLs for the R which are extra bright. I don't think the stockies are bright enough....and they are yellowish!!!

I am going to echo the DRL statement as that is how most of the R's catch my attention.

They do seem short though when compared to the Merc E Class ones etc.

                        22 y.o. auburn testosterone + a mate's supercar = disaster

it took me a couple of drives to get used and to properly control my mate's wrx 10 yrs ago.

i almost nosed a car in the front on anzac bridge when the boost suddenly came at 3500rpm in second gear despite 6 yrs of driving back then, however all were normal NA cars.

Yeah there are only 4 pathetic LEDs.

The MY11 GTI's LEDs are far more eye catching!! They look pretty intimidating at night too.

i used to get all the pommy import cops pulling me over. most loved my mk5 GTI and the BBS.... others didnt like me at all.

as a general rule the aussie cops dont even give you a second look, however the coppas in my area are now mostly poms

Must say I am surprised at how long this thread has become and the constructive and interesting feedback that has flowed through. Seems to be a topic all have had to contend with but mostly positive
