      Anyone know anything about this?
I just spoke to my dealer and he says that they "Audio Upgrade' and Bluetooth are on the R order still (Car in build) but the codes have changed. But he is not sure of what the changes mean. Would be interested to know

Sounds like a possible switch from Dynaudio to Fender - the 2012 Canadian Spec Golfs and the new R are changing from Dynaudio to Fender system, just like the new newer beetle

Dynaudio are one of the worlds leading driver manufacturers. Whilst there are hundreds of companies that make "speakers" (i.e. one or more drivers, crossovers, in a cabinent), there aren't nearly as many that make the drivers.

Dynaudio audio also have one of the world's most respected lines of speakers in the home audiophile market.
The Dynaudio Evidence Master is now 11 years old, and yet STILL retails in Australia for $100,000. Yes, one hundred thousand dollars.

Fender on the other hand make Guitars. They DO also market their own line of "Guitar amplifier combos and cabinents", but they don't manufacturer the speakers from them and instead source them from elsewhere.

I don't really understand why you'd make this move unless Fender are now marketting a car audio system developed by someone that is better performing or better value than Dynaudios? But then again, the "VW Dynaudio" systems are nowhere near the level of quality than the aftermarket Dynaudio car systems anyway.

Maybe it's to do with "Brand Recognition"? Maybe this change is simply because more American/UK consumers know of Fender than Dynaudio?

I guess it's like Audi using Bose. Bose are America's number 1 selling hi-fi brand, yet they're nowhere near the best performing or best value product - but they have brand recognition.

I have not worked at Audi for a couple of years so things might of changed but Audi have been using BANG & OLUFSEN for many many years and still market it on their cars.... have they recently changed to Bose?

My mate's A5 B&O was only a $1,200 upgrade! Shame on you VW Dynaudio.

But isn't the Fender partnership exclusively with Volkswagen of America?

Audi have both Bose and Bang & Olufsen systems and have for years - it depends on the model and how much you want to pay. Some models have the option for either at differing costs.

S3 and TT-S for example have never had B&O, only Bose.

If the B&O is only a $1200 option, it's probably cause the Bose was already standard!

Does anyone know when MY12 GTI's will start being built? I have been told the second week of June which I think is about week 24? Does this sound right?

I spoke with a dealer at the start of the week, and he said Week 25 production was the MY12 kickoff.

In "Motor", there is a sidebar comment that fully switchable ESP is coming to the GTI / R... I guess that might be another MY12 upgrade.

I'm a bit bummed that I just missed out on the MY12 upgrade (and the now standard Bluetooth & MDI that I had to pay for to have included) as my car is now on the water... I'm hoping that I have not missed out on any cosmetic changes as well.

I dont mind the bluetooth and MDI being thrown in for free now.. its all good.d But if the eSP is not able to be upgraded, and the new ones have it, Im not buying another VW no matter how much I love this car.

Bring the switchable ESP to my R, VW, or lose a future customer! Don't care? Fine. We'll see next time! Just do it!

Did VW promise that you could upgrade to a switchable ESP before you purchased it? Did you buy the original car with a switchable ESP requirement that was not in place? If not why does it matter, you're whining about a new feature on a updated model, if you don't like this your best choice is to never buy a new car as they always bring new features out with each upgrade.

I'm pretty confident that VW won't care if you go elsewhere.

Surely it should be a simple process of just tweaking the ECU?
