I personally dont care about 3 or 5 door...There just doors, big deal, if you want a 3dr and VW are dropping the 3dr R, get a different car, easy. I would much rather they drop the 3dr and bring the Scirocco down under...

As I said, it matters to some people. And yes, you ARE correct... just get a different car, easy. That is what enough people told them a few months before the Golf R was released. But since VW had no intention of bringing the Scirocco, and still haven't confirmed it, the "get a different car" was not going to be a Volkswagen...

Therefore, they bought the 3dr in - for a while at least.
But since we've already seen this several times before, and none of it was for the Scirocco, I don't believe this is any indication that it's coming.
I'd love to be wrong... but history is on my side.

If they do bring in the Rocco, it would be to clear unsold UK stock in readiness for the facelifted Rocco in 2012. They did this with the Pirelli just before the mkVI was brought out. We got the Ford RS for probably the same reason.

whatever the reason - and even though it is a few years old... it would be brand spanking (bar the few imported via NZ) on our roads.

i don't think VW have any semblance of a HALO car (if that's what you wanna call it)... the rocco would kind of fill that hole. no?

hmmm nbot sure that's the case.. a gap has been left by the R36 which will be sorted sooner or later.. the CC is quite understated but quite the range topper.. not sure the Sirocco fits the Halo status

it's still a sedan. surely the Sirocco is at least closer to HALO than anything else in the VW range?

eg the RCZ for the pugs.. not a lightning quick car but looks sweet and has something unique about it. that double bubble glass roof is out there and gorgeous. i like the pricing arrangement--> all same base price.

Overseas, the R costs more than the Scirocco.

And the CC is surprisingly, one of the freshest, classy designs at the moment. Love that car in the bronze colour! Beautiful lines etc.. But R36 sounds horn, like the R32 did..

all due respect to the R - it is a golf. and there are a bizzilion of them (yes not the R but all models) on the road.

the rocco is a stand out for the brand - like the CC is. as i said though the CC is a sedan... hard for the CC to be a marks halo car. Anyway whatever happens and whatever the reasons are for removing the 3dr R from the market. hopefully the Scirocco makes it to Australia.

Changes to the MY12 golf R?

so I just got back from the dealership to enquire about the golf R I'm looking to purchase.

I suspect the dealer I spoke to is just full of it, but he said to me that ACC and Dynaudio are being removed from the options list as of MY12 (which apparently is any car built after June 2011). I also noticed that bluetooth was not on the list of options that I was shown.

Anyone know anything about this?

Interesting. Mines due to be built first week in June and i ticked both of those boxes. Sounds unlikely.

Sounds as though information is being confused. We've been told that the ACC and Dynaudio are not available on comfortline models from now on... but not having it available for GTD/GTI/R would be a grave mistake from VGA, unless it was going to be bundled etc.
